Flamenco: Synergy among song, guitar and dance

Windhover Center for the Performing Arts
The great artists of Southern Spain, Gypsy or Flamenco, singers, dancers, musicians know that emotion is impossible without the arrival of “ duende”.. The duende is not in the throat: the duende surges up, inside, from the soles of the feet.Federico Garcia Lorca (from his 1933 lecture titled: “Play and Theory of the Duende”)
The synergy among song, guitar and dance has a long and revered history in Spain, and the birth of Flamenco digs deep into the soul of the performers. Two live performances this weekend on the Windhover stage will highlight this art form with dancers in full regalia performing to the emotive sounds of the singers, the clappers and the guitarists.
