
According to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, the Northeast Region is currently at a Level 3 – Critical Drought.
As per state law requirements, the City of Gloucester is enacting a water ban on all nonessential outdoor water use. This includes handheld watering and drip irrigation.
We highly recommend reviewing some suggestions for how to be mindful of water use for conservation purposes:
- Minimize overall water use whenever possible
- Fix leaking faucets, toilets, and irrigation systems promptly
- Take shorter showers and avoid filling bathtubs
- Turn off the water while brushing teeth or shaving
- Run dishwashers and washing machines only when full
- Use water-efficient appliances and fixtures when possible
- Monitor your water bill for signs of hidden leaks
- Avoid unnecessary outdoor watering and use water wisely outdoors
