Back Pain Treatment

OCTOBER 25, 2023 BY RUSSELLSHERI

Back pain can be debilitating and can significantly affect your quality of life. Not only that, but the discomfort can become chronic if it is left untreated. At The Russell Center for Chiropractic & Sports Medicine in Beverly, MA, we provide various treatments to eliminate your pain and help you return to your normal routine quickly.

Causes of Back Pain

Back pain can occur due to a variety of causes. For example, not exercising regularly, poor posture, and not using proper lifting techniques can lead to sprains and strains. You may even have back pain from certain infections. Some additional causes of back pain include:

  • Obesity
  • Pregnancy
  • Herniated discs
  • Endometriosis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Kidney stones
  • Kidney infection

Treatments for Back Pain

At our practice, we use various treatments to provide relief from back pain. Some methods our chiropractic may recommend include the following:

SoftWave Therapy

Softwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment which uses shockwaves to enhance healing, decrease inflammation, and encourage blood flow. While a single session of SoftWave therapy may ease your pain, we often recommend a package of treatments to see the full benefits. If you’d like to try this treatment, we are offering an introductory price for all new patients. I highly recommend SoftWave for its many benefits and quick, easy application.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy can help relieve the discomfort and tension in your back. Not only that, the therapy also relaxes the body, releases endorphins, and increases happiness. Our massage therapist Catherine Peachey is here by appointment and we promise, you will feel amazing after she treats your back.

Acupuncture

Combining acupuncture with other treatments can help eliminate your discomfort. Along with that, the treatment can reduce inflammation that may be contributing to the back pain. Our Acupuncturist, Dr. Henry Lee is particularly interested in the treatment of orthopedic and sports injuries through the synergy of traditional and modern medical theories and methodologies.

At-Home Remedies for Back Pain

There are several at-home remedies that you can try to reduce your symptoms. If you experience minor back pain, some remedies you might consider include:

  • Heat and cold therapy
  • Stretches
  • Manage stress
  • Change your diet
  • Exercise regularly
  • Get enough sleep
  • Yoga
