RED IN THE MORNING, SAILOR TAKE WARNING

Red Sky Sunrise Niles Pond

Red sky in the morning,

sailor take warning.

Red sky at night,

sailor’s delight.

This old saying has a scientific explanation and you can read about it here on the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory website.

  1. A beautiful photo but I had to smile at the quote – I grew up in Wales, U.K. where there are lots of sheep, and the saying that we grew up with was: “Red sky at night, Shepherd’s delight, Red sky in the morning, Shepherd’s warning.” I guess everything is relative!
