This beautiful lunk of wood at Pebble Beach appears as if it is a trunk and root system. Would it be possible that it is from an ancient tree that was at one time growing there, or do you think the driftwood just landed there in that artful manner?

There are also the remains of an old forest at Long Beach by the wooden bridge that get exposed some years.

Thanks for sharing that Gregg! I read that there was a pine forest where Good Harbor Beach currently is today, as recently as the 1600s, which is what made me wonder. So interesting!!

I am very delighted to see that pile of roots. I first spotted them 20 years ago, then they got covered and now they are back! What a surprise. I am sure they grew there. It is remarkable how high the ocean seems to be now. Thanks for your photos. I love your work!
