Had a nice Mother’s Day yesterday with all my girls home. Funny part was it’s the first week in May and we had the fireplace going all day! AND…. in case anyone was wondering, that was the sun in the sky yesterday afternoon so of course I ended my Mother’s Day by catching the sunset at Lane’s Cove last night! Hoping the rain is behind us and there are more nights like this to enjoy! (ok maybe it could be a little warmer lol!)

Love the shadows of the people on the wall

Due to the condition of that side of the breakwater, we usually call it a reef now.
We are hoping that someday it will be repaired, perhaps even before we
lose a couple of houses and the fish shack.

Wow the wall is still down? I remember the other side was down before fixing it up and what a beautiful sunset (:-) – that is the side dad had his lobster boat early 60’s and I fished off this side but most of the time fished the other side as it had space that went farther out into Ipswich bay – most of us dropped the line between break walls catch the fish casing others into he cove. Mackerel cast more out and if luck might even catch a stripped but rare…flounder let it stay on floor but may pull up crabs and rare occasion lobster. Always caught Cunners…:-) Dave & Kim 🙂
Found this too, started on GMG early 2013 – one of my posts about George Morey’s fish shack restoral

Memory lane again here! What a great new look to this lanes cove legend. We kids then spent many a summer day, hanging around this shack in summer, all seasons while George Morey was fixing his nets. He would bring his dory up close load up supplies for the trip out to his net or getting into to the dory got pull his net on the other side of break-wall from summer cottages. Had friend’s on duly street that used to have a square looking boat we called the TUB row around inside the cove when it didn’t keep sinking…George and Helen Morey lived across the street from where I lived as a lad. During the end of year always looked forward to the arrival of the flatbed truck carrying the Christmas trees from Maine or New Hampshire he set up in lot by his next to hall that is now a package store!.
