Miss that sound that, along with the sounds of the water, put me to sleep as a child growing up on Rocky Neck in East Gloucester. I sometimes imagine I hear those sounds and close my eyes and am instantly transported back to my favorite place and favorite time in my life. And I can feel my blood pressure dropping and peace and calm washing over me. Sigh…….

Agreed ~ the sound of a drip from the gutter or the heat pump that runs forever sends me to a night of the toss and turns. However, the sea and the halyards ~ all the comfort sounds of Gloucester ~ bring welcome slumber and sleep. But then “the music” of the sea and yes even the halyards also gently wake us in the morning to great another beautiful Gloucester sunrise.
