Wreath-Making Workshop at Essex Shipbuilding Museum – Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Have you ever wanted to make your own wreath with your personal touches, but weren’t sure where to start?  Join us on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 between 4 pm and 7 pm at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum ’s Waterline Center as Susie Talbot, of Forget-Me-Not Garden Services, guides us through putting together and decorating a 20” wreath. Wreaths, different styles of ribbons, dried and live fruit, and an assortment of accent greens will be provided so the wreath you take home will reflect you. Should you have a unique item you wish to use on your wreath, please bring it. We would also appreciate it if you have your own clippers or scissors if you brought them along. Due to the nature of this workshop, space will be limited. Registration charges will be based on the number of wreaths you wish to make. The cost for each wreath is $35. You may register for the workshop by going to www.essexshipbuildingmuseum.org, or calling 978-768-7541 and leaving a message.

This Is Gloucester DVD Missing Two Chapters

I regret to tell you guys that somehow or other the master used for the “This is Gloucester DVD is missing two chapters- The Why I Love Gloucester Interviews and the Saturday Greasy Pole Chapter.

The DVD is still awesome but thought I should let people know about it.  If the reason you bought one was because out of the 21 Chapters those two were critical to your decision to purchase one I will issue you a refund before I ship them.

They look great and I’m thrilled with the results of how they play and Beth Swan’s cover arrangement, I just must have slipped one of the test DVD’s into the envelope when it went to the duplication company.  It still has the Friday Greasy Pole, the mutant lobsters, the Novenas, The Gloucester at Dawn Video with Dan King’s music to it, The Good Harbor Zen videos, Down in The Fish Hold of The Captain Domenic, and more.

Just thought I’d let y’all know before I ship them though in case that was why you bought one.

If you want to buy one from the second batch there are 21 DVDs left to sell which should be here by the end of the week and will probably sell out by tomorrow.

Newlyweds Paul & Mary Spinola Represent!

Good Morning Joey,

We are big fans of GMG, thanks for all the hard work you do creating and keeping up with everything Glosta! Your mom (who we work with) was nice enough to supply me with some GMG stickers to "represent" with during our recent trip to St. Thomas and subsequent honeymoon cruise to the Southern Caribbean. After getting married on the beach in St. Thomas, we visited Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and St. Maarten.

Here we are at beautiful Magens Bay in St Thomas as well as a pic of me at Boo Boo Jam Beach in St. Maarten.

Feel free to post!

Thanks and keep up the great work!

A good review for the New Year.

Perfect Photo Suite 6

Wow! Lots of great tool updates with some new ones such as Perfect Portrait.

High Five Photo Tips for DECEMBER:

1. When shooting Portraits, alter you viewpoint and either get up higher and shoot down or lower and shoot up. Try direct eye contact and then have the subject look outside the field of the camera or inside the camera field. Try props or candid poses often during action such as with jumping or in an activity. Add light Painting (more on this technique for January)

2. Lighting is the key to compositing. This will make the selections easier and the composite look real. The lighting on the subject and on the composite needs to match. Another trick – don’t include the feet if possible. Plan ahead.

3. Simple compositions are often best. Clean and pure. Follows my photo motto: Simplify.

4. Foreground elements help to balance a composition. Choose them wisely. Use leading lines to draw the eye into the photo.

Or just look for patterns and colors.

5. Location, location, location. True in photography as it is in real estate. Choose a great location and a landmark of that location to be the key focus. This is an infra red pannoramic shot vertically at Pepsico in New York.

Preparing for Sunday’s Christmas Tree Lighting!

TreeDecoration
Nick Curcuru, Cynde Francis & John Van Ness
Decorate the tree at Kent Circle

Gloucester’s Santa Parade begins at the State Fish Pier at 3pm and ends at Kent Circle with music from the North Shore Bell Ringers and the tree lighting at about 4:30pm.

Ringo Tarr has promised snow no matter what the temperature!

Mr_MrsSantaSanta will travel the parade route on a Gloucester fire truck.  Once he gets to Kent  Circle, children can sit on Santa’s lap and meet Mrs. Clause too.

Look for the Pink Elephant along the parade route with AMVETS children collecting unwrapped toys for Toys4Tots.  If you miss the Pink Elephant you can bring an unwrapped toy to Kent Circle.

This year The Docksiders will perform in the parade and at Kent Circle.

Everyone at Kent Circle is invited to sign holiday cards to be sent to our troops overseas.

Free popcorn and hot chocolate at Kent Circle provided by Lobsta Land and The Gloucester Fund.

After the Tree lighting there’s plenty of Music in Gloucester and Cape Ann.  See a complete list of music here: http://www.gimmesound.com/Gloucester.cfm
