Joey guessed “somewhere in Essex” which is correct. So where in Essex is it?

(This video was done with my new camera. Not bad. Except for my shaky hands!)

Here’s the first clue.

A Shout Out To GMG Nation From Spring Training

Spring Training Tickets 2010

I’ve gone to Spring Training every year since they’ve opened City Of Palms Park in Ft Myers.  Even though I think it’s a gorgeous facility and not too old- opened in 1992 they will be relocating next year closer to Naples.

For more info about City of Palms Park you can check out this site-

One of the things I love about going to Spring Training every year is how close to the players you get and how theres a super friendly atmosphere in City Of Palms Park.

Internet 101

Internet 101

Google is your friend

I get “I couldn’t find this story” or “I couldn’t find this picture on your blog” at least ten times a week.

I explain to these people that there is a search box in the right hand column of the blog and if they type in the subject matter in the search box 99% of the time it will bring up the results that the person is looking for.

For some strange reason people say they tried that but it didn’t work so Ill try it and immediately the results show up just as I thought they would.

Then there is Google. You can always try to do a google search for the results. I am fucking astounded at the sheer number of people who in this day and age don’t know how to perform a google search for something they are looking for.

It’s amazing to me it really is but the fact is that there is a huge section of the population who cannot figure out how to direct their browser to google and type in keywords related to the search they would like to perform into that search box to find the results they desire.

http://www.google.com

I want our readers to find what they are looking for. I want our readers to become better at this thing called the internet. I realize that most of you already understand how to perform a simple web search but I wonder how many of you know how many folks still to this day just don’t get it.

Again, there is a search box in the right hand column of GMG. If you are looking for a video of my sister Felicia’s
Mudiga Steak video for example-

First locate the search box in the right hand column of GMG

Second, type in Felicia Mudiga Steak in the search box

Third click enter

Viola! Results! It’s not magic I swear!

Movie – “The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus”

“Shot through with a bold, extravagant generosity of spirit, this journey behind the literal and figurative looking glass marks a gratifying return to form for Gilliam, whose recent films haven’t quite lived up to his capacities.” -Ann Hornaday, Washington Post

“Longtime fans who wondered if Gilliam had simply run out of steam should have a grand time.” -Daniel M. Kimmel, NorthShoreMovies.net

In modern London, a centuries old carriage stops randomly to present sixteenth century style entertainment. The very old man (Christopher Plummer) who runs the show is carrying a great weight – a deal he with Mr. Nick (Tom Waits) for youth in immortality is about to come due on the sixteenth birthday of his only daughter, Valentina (sweetheart faced Lily Cole). His herald, Anton (Andrew Garfield), who has loved her from afar, must try to seduce five souls before his boss’s newest player Tony (Heath Ledger), in order to win her within “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.” Completed after Ledger’s untimely death, the film, by ex-Python Terry Gilliam, features Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell, the film is a tribute both to the late actor and the film’s visionary creator, the director of such cult favorites as “Brazil” and “The Fisher King.”

Thank Goodness We Got Of Here Without Any Bags

GOT PHOTOS?

From City Councilor Exraodinnaire And Most Excellent Person- The Wonderful, Thoughtful,Hard Working,City Loving, Jackie Hardy!

Hi Joey,
Hope family is well.
As you may have seen in today’s GDT the City is in the process of putting their new website together and we are looking for some nice photos of the City that can be incorporated into the web design…. It may be asking a lot, I do not know, but we are looking for photographers to donate their electronic photos (as large as possible) to the City for no cost with the understanding that they will not be attributable on the photo itself…. there has been a brief discussion that we may have a section of the web page that does say thank you for many different contributions to the city (site) and the attributes for the photos could possibly be there… but nothing firmed up on that (yet)…. I have seen dozens and dozens and dozens of absolutely FANTASTIC photos taken by many people and bloggers in the city… and I am wondering if you could reach out to others to see if they would be willing to donate their electronic photos of the city… we are looking for different types of photos… iconic, action orientated, places, buildings, special settings AND OF COURSE OUR HARBOR… variouis photos that show Glou. in summer, spring and fall (for some reason it was believed that winter … snow…. scenes wouldn’t fit… I don’t agree, so send what you will!!!) We hope to get so many submissions that it will be difficult for us to pick and choose those that will become part of our new web design!!! (photos that will DRAWWWWW viewers to our beautiful City) Here is the email address to send them to photos … of course we would like to have a note from those who do submit stating something like the following… ( I’m no lawyer, so this is my best stab….. check with Mike Wells in our IT department mwells , maybe he has something legal-eagle”ish” to use!)
here is my stab at it:
I ________________ am the owner of the attached photograph and I have the exclusive right to allow the City of Gloucester the right to use the photographs on the City of Gloucester website. I understand that I will not be paid by the City for the use of this photograph, and that I will not be acknowledged/attributed as the photographer for use by the City for same.

Joey and others….Thanks for whatever you can do to help get the word out to all the fantastic photographers – much appreciated, Jackie Hardy

remember to submit photo(s) ASAP as large as possible electronically to photos with the statement above.

our IT dept. wasn’t sure we’d get many folks who would donate… so lets show them differently and swamp the City with photos!!! Best to all with many thanks, Jackie Hardy
