Most know that Saying: “Opinions are Like a……. everyone has one”.
I recently read a comment saying; Joey is “Lofty” and can be a bit rude with his language and I’m deleting my subscription to GMG.
The Title of his blog is GMG ” My life on the Dock”
Have You ever hung around with a Lobsterman, Fishermen, factory worker or even a tie wearing office worker! The crap that comes out of our mouths ,Comments about our life, wife, families, etc. is disgusting! Only nice disgusting stuff. But it helps us get through a day of sometimes mindless work to support our families. That person may not know what her Husband talks like at work. Unless he works in a Monestary I’m sure he’s used a few choice words in his life.
This is Joey’s Blog, His VOICE, His feelings, His view of this city, The view of people he thought you may want to hear. The images they see of GLOUCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS! Maybe if they spent some time “Over The Bridge” they could understand.
Just like TVor Radio you can change the station. Just click on Iliveinafantasyworld.com if you don’t want to hear his or our shit.
I have to stick up for Joey on this one. He is far from stuck up, or Lofty. He gives a great amount of his time promoting Gloucester and the Businesses, Artists, Organizations and Individuals that make up this wacko Town. He never asks for Kickbacks, Free Meals, Services or whatever. He pays for his own meals at Restaurants he promotes here.
BUT, He can be a pain in the Ass. Such as; Calling 30 minutes before the Rockyneck New Years day Swim or the 1st Gloucester triathlon to get some video for the Blog (just a few of my experiences with GMG), Having Sharon risk her life in the toilet of the Schooner Spirit of Massachusetts to bring computer bound People an experience they may never have. Joey asks for nothing in return. There are no ads on the blog to create revenue to help pay for internet access or programs or Hardware to help make the GMG Blog better. It comes out of his own pocket and time. He can be a great guy. Sometimes. 🙂 A little F ‘n Nuts, sure Can’t we all. Look in the mirror before you judge someone else. I’m sure some of my posts have caused Joey some problems. I know Mary will never read GMG Because of my Valentines card I posted. But get a life, Have a sense of humor. Enjoy His “Little Slice of his life on the Dock” or whatever he calls this F’d up Blog. Does anybody really read this blog?
I’m sorry to RANT! But in the the words of my Sweet Sicilian Grandfather, You can kiss my Italian ASS if you don’t like it! (It sounds classier in Italian)
OH, By the way Happy St. Patricks Day to all my Irish Friends!
Here’s a Free Plug for you Sharon!
Joey, you can delete this post anytime if you’d like.

BRAVO!!!!!!!! Well said!!!!!!!! I grew up in East Gloucester hanging around on the docks. Nothing wrong with the colorful words I learned in English and Italian. Sometimes they helps to get your point across!!!! Keep up the good work Joey.

If anyone knows of a person that works harder for their community (unpaid as Paul pointed out), please speak up.
When I visited Gloucester, Joey stopped his work to help me. I have read his blog weekly every since even though I am hundreds of miles away.
When the old guy finally croaks off, hopefully he will be remembered for the countless hours he has given to the city the obviously loves.

Rock on! 😉 Keep it colorful. I’m sick of beige.
Lofty? The antonyms of lofty are as follows: humble, base, and short – and who wants that? I’d say anyone willing to call someone else lofty is probably a bit haughty, supercilious, disdainful, lordly, and/or superior themselves.

Paul, Ya know me & ya know what I’ve written. You helped me out once & for that I will always be grateful. It was after my comment on the shaved balls thing. I can’t help it that my ex-boyfriend did that for me. That night I went into more detail, which maybe , I know now, I shouldn’t of. But I thought we were all adults & I never stoped to think that maybe someone would of been offended by my openness. I have to say that I’ve never read anything on this blog that upset me or hurt me or anything else. I myself have said Joey should get something for what he does for Glosta. Because of Joey I got a beautiful silver lobster at Christmas time & I want that platter he showed awhile back. Because of Joey, I stopped at Paulines Gift Shop. Yeah, Joey has done a lot for Glosta & people in general. Living alone I get lonely sometimes & believe me this blog has saved me more than once. I’m sorry but I’d rather have Glosta like it is ( except for what the fishermen & lobstermen are going through with rules) then anything else. Only thing that I can say is equal to my feelings for Glosta is Maine. Ya all know how I feel about Maine. Especially the lobstermen…lol…Man I love them all…lol…So Paul in ending here all I can say is I totally agree with you. Joey doesn’t deserve what was said. Thank God for Joey, & you Paul for sending in all those beautiful lobsterboat & fishing boat pictures & everyone else who helps with the blog. God bless you all. I love your leprechaun. Cute cheeks…lol… Joey, all us down to earth people love ya & I hope you know that. You better or I’ll come down there & slap ya upside the head…lol… Only kidding. So whoever this person is to hell with them. A down to earth blog doesn’t need snobs anyway. Hell, maybe this person should die & go to heaven if this person want’s purity. Keep up the phenomenal work Joey & crew. I truly love you all. And Sharon, come hell or high water, you & I are meeting this summer. You to Kathleen. I’d love to meet you both. There are a couple of fishermen & lobstermen I’d love to meet, but I’ll leave their names out of here because the PURITAN may consider me a whore…lol… Guys, have a great St. Patty’s Day. I’m not Irish. Not with a name like Lapointe. Trying to get back to my maiden name…lol… Not easy. But on St. Patty’s day, I’m Irish…lol… Aren’t we all. Have a good one everyone.

Hey Paulie!!! I remember taking that shot. Your pants kept falling off and I couldn’t resist!;)
On the serious side, I can’t tell you how much this blog has changed my life (for better or worse), and I wouldn’t trade any of it for a white-washed version. I love you all!!!

background check – I worked on the wharfs – packed fish in The Fort. Heard it all at one time or another. Not a native Italian speaker – but heard in Italian and English as well.
If this is Joey’s blog – what’s all that other stuff ( aside form the photos) posted by others.
Quite sad that the only way to be ‘colorful’ or not ‘beige’ or ‘vanilla’ is to use disrespectful language and posts. I write this directly adjacent to a picture of your daughter Joey.
I fully understand what a blog is – and it is a forum for uncensored – unedited opinion and observations. Have at it.
And back atcha – I’ve worked on computers for more than 20 years – still have much to learn which I often do through some great blogs – not always from the blogger – but from the respondents.
And, yes I do personally know someone in Gloucester who makes huge contributions to the community and has for decades without publicity or pay and he has a much better command of the English language than I have seen here.
Again, typing next to your daughter’s photo….is what you print here on occasion her bedtime reading?

It is a million hits later and what have you made here Joey? A place in the choir for someone new to the island like me and to all who have called this cape their home for generations. From fisherman to Finns for cutting granite. And every once and a while we even swear. Better to let one swear through than to prohibit a good story. No, let the stories flow.
You have a filter here at GMG and whining and complaining don’t make it through. Thank you for that. I hear enough of that on the local news and that is not what I click on Good Morning Gloucester for.
And to note what your daughter’s might think of what is printed in GMG I know that when they are ten or twenty they will be proud of what their father thought was worth describing his favorite city.

Oh my God Paul M. & Paul F. One Paul M. I couldn’t agree with you more. I’ve been with this blog for quite a while & I’m almost positive that I have been the one to say possibly the worst things on this blog. But I promised Joey I would be good & I have been. And the kids, I’m sure they don’t read the blog & even if they did Joey would be there watching, although there is basically no filth on this blog Except me & that one time. Oh well, I’m truthfull, what can I say…lol… And yes, I agree with you saying the kids will be proud of their father. Joey treats his kids & wife like they are all Princesses & Paul F. ( who I adore ) oh by the way, Paul F. if your wife reads this please tell her I’m not trying to take you from her…lol… One I wouldn’t try & 2 I don’t think I’d get any where anyway…lol… But please Paul don’t you dear call yourself a pain. You’re one heck of a contributor to this blog. And in the words of this French & Indian person( hey what can I say?) bet you all thought I was Polish with the other name…lol…Anyone who doesn’t like this blog just doesn’t have to look at it. It saved me more than once. Joey, needs no appologies to anyone. If anything maybe she should apologize to Joey. Maybe 1 or 2 out off everyone all over the place. I could live with that. I hope you can to Joey. You’ve done so much for this city and everyone in it & out of it and never asked for anything in return. And why complain, if I was her I would of kept my mouth shut & just dropped out of the blog. I know it’s freedom of speech but looks like to me she has a hell of a lot of people disagreing with her ( not including ) the ones not writing in. Yep, guess ya just can’t please all the people all of the time.
