THE ESSEX HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND SHIPBUILDING MUSEUM presents The Evelina Goulart Symposium – Managing a Ninety-Ton Historical Articfact, a 4-part symposium. The Evelina M. Goulart, a fishing schooner built in at the A.D. Story Shipyard in Essex in 1927, is one of seven remaining Essex-built schooners in existence. Part One: the Evelina M. The CAPE ANN MILITARY FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP would like to invite family members and friends of our men and women serving in the military from Cape Ann to a ” Meet and Greet” evening at the Major Frank Ritvo Veterans’ Center, 12 Emerson Ave., Gloucester on Thursday, March 4, 7-9pm. Local veterans are invited to attend to honor them for their past services and to share their experiences of being a Veteran. This is an opportunity for the community to come together informally to support our Troops who have kept and are continuing to keep our country free and safe.

THE CAPE ANN MUSEUM is pleased to present an exhibition of paintings by marine artist Peter Vincent. An opening reception for the exhibition will be held in the Museum’s Maritime Wing on Saturday, March 6, 3-5pm. This program is free and open to the public. 978-283-0455

THE SOCIETY FOR ENCOURAGEMENT OF THE ARTS, in partnership with several Gloucester-based businesses, announces a special event with a focus on Captains Courageous: A Story of the Grand Banks, Rudyard Kipling’s classic adventure novel, and film adaptation, featuring Gloucester fishermen. The all-day event will take place on Saturday, March 6, 9am-9:30pm at the Cape Ann Museum, Sawyer Free Library, Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center, Cape Ann Art Haven, and Cape Ann Community Cinema.
