I spent my long weekend in the Dominican Republic to soak up some sun and warm weather. The overall experience was great, the people are very friendly and the beaches beautiful. After visiting I am thankful for everything I have and was a little homesick even after only 4 days. Sorry Joey, I didn’t have any GMG stickers with me.

I was there a few years ago in February and I remember lying on the beach and reading in the newspaper about a snowstorm in Boston… amazing feeling. When I got on the plane to come back it was 82 degrees and when I got off in Boston it was 17… not fair.
We stayed in Boca Chica at the Dominican Bay.
Pros: it was close to the airport and all inclusive Cons: the room was musty and the neighborhood was dicey(hotel had barbed wire around it and guards). The Boca Chica beach is a local spot, lots of vendors trying to sell you things, and when the winds picked up the trash floated in. There are probably better places to stay, but it was nice to see real Dominican life and not just a resort. We took an excursion to Soana Island, which was beautiful.
I didn’t do any diving, I was with my girlfriend who doesn’t dive. I heard Catalina Island is a great dive/snorkel spot.
