Ok people !!!! this is getting to much with the help for Hati. whille i feel bad for the people , I dont know about any of you buy did you see all this hoopla when the huricane destroyed New Orleans , or huricane Andrew in Florida ? It was on the news for perhaps a week and I did not see all theise groups running to raise money to help fellow americans !!!! It’s nice to live in a country that wants to help others ( but ) please people their are still people suffering from “our” natural disasters who need our help ( not ) to mention our millions of homeless Americans . Whille I think our great nation should help others , remember , the bible say’s charity starts at home !!!! So I say help Americans help America first !!!!!
Hey Shawn-
I agree that we should take of our own first. Here in Gloucester on the music scene there were several benefits for the Katrina victims including a CD with the proceeds going to those citizens. I’m not negating anything you say, but I think people in general rise to the meet the needs of the current situation in a crisis. We do need to remember that the issues continue long after the media coverage ends. There’s where effort on our part can make a difference. Thanks for the reminder, Shawn.
My responce was not directed at Gloucester what so ever . it was directed mostly at our goverment and not local goverment. it just pisses me off to no end to see this country worry about others ( before) it fixs the problems here in our country. I live in ARIZONA now and see here what havock it wreaks by not doing what Mass. has done conserning health reforms ( making everyone have mandatory health care ) my wife worked all her life sometimes 70 /80 hours a week and now is real sick , and even though she collects disabillity we still have to pay doctor bills . after all the money she and i put in for tax’s over the years we still get zapped with huge DR. bills. unlike Mass where we would be completley covered !!! and yet our goverment sees fit to send millions apon millions to help others abroad. how about some help here is what i am mad at. I am sorry i just figured after busting my ass working since i was 13 years old and paying god knows the total amount of taxs over the years i would not be going deep into debt because my wife is sick and cant work. Gloucester and Mass. as a whole does take care of it’s own and to be quite honest i wish i never moved from Gloucester . and your right once the media coverage is moved to something else that will sell more papers people tend to forget . what makes me really mad is that my wife has anemia and disabillity will only cover certian types of medications and operations to control her bleeding and we sure as hell cant afford the $674.36 a month for the type of meds that would really work , and also because my wife is 49 years old they wont pay the $12,000 operation she should get for a historectomy so she dont lose all that blood every month and pass out from dehydration and blood loss. yet this great nation will send billions to help a third world country. WOW !!!! Tell how I really feel huh ? Joey knows my wife and she is such a sweetheart and would do “anything” for “anyone” and it hurts me to see her suffer because our goverment wont give her the same help it does people in other countrys who did not pay the goverment taxs all their lives. sorry for venting so much , Good Morning Gloucester is great , and so is Gloucester as a whole to bad our goverment does not act like the people of that great city.
