Don’t anyone even think about getting into a bidding war with me at tomorrow nights lobster buoy auction to benefit Art Haven at Cruiseport. I have my eye on that lobster buoy and I don’t want things to get ugly so just stay the hell away from bidding on the lobster one.

Have you ever tried the turkey sandwich with cranberry chutney and semolina bread stuffing sandwich at Last Stop Variety?
If you haven’t you gotta go try it. It’s a great great sandwich and hearty kind of meal for this time of year. I love that we have a place like Last Stop in East Gloucester close to the dock so I know I can always swing by and get some home cooked goodness.

Tomorrow Night At Cruiseport! For $5 Measly Bucks You Get To Eat food From many of the great restaurants around town. How can they feed you for $5 you ask? Cruiseport graciously donated the space and the restaurants donated the grub! Hey we got some generous business owners around here that like to support good causes, what can we say?
So take advantage damnit! Get down to Cruiseport tomorrow night and help make the Arts thrive in Gloucester, especially arts for our children!

Today’s lesson is how to use the category links at the bottom of the page to find things that may interest you.
99% of the posts that I put up I place into a category or a couple categories. It takes a little extra time but as far as cataloging Gloucester and the blog itself for the future it pays incredible dividends. If I ever stopped posting people could use categories or the search function to find just about anything in Gloucester that I’ve posted in the past.
So for example if you are interested in lobster, you scroll to the bottom of this page and click on the word in the category section that says lobster and every post that I’ve ever put up that has to do with lobster will come up from the date closest to now back in time. There are other categories such as “eats” which contains all the food pictures from Gloucester restaurants, or pics from our kitchen.

Do me a favor and let me know if you can hear the audio in the video in the comment section below this post, thanks.
Received this info from David Brooks-
ART HAVEN ART SHOW
2009 Programs Fundraiser
Dear Friends,
On January 30th, Cape Ann Art Haven will be conducting its first ever Art Show and fundraiser. For the last 6 months, Art Haven has been offering art lessons after school in the heart of down town Gloucester. During this time, our Main St. studio has been a headquarters for young artists to meet and develop friendships. Many of the children we serve have trouble expressing themselves through conventional extra curricular activities, such as sports. Art Haven is a place where children can be proud of what they can accomplish. Since our opening, all staff at Art Haven have been volunteers, and have occasionally paid for the supplies for fun projects out of their own pockets. Proceeds from the art show will contribute to funding for this new year, and we, as well as all the children who take classes at Art Haven, are looking forward to displaying the artwork they have created.
This will be a great time to meet those who are involved in Art Haven. There will be buffet dishes donated by many Gloucester Restaurants (Lat 43, Thai Choice, Azorean, Sebastian’ Pizza, Jalapenos, Chili Choice and more…), as well as a cash bar. Also, Senator Bruce Tarr will be auctioning off painted buoys from this years lobster trap Christmas tree. We hope to see you there! Tickets are only $5.00!! Be there at 6 pm.

Here’s a breakfast sandwich from The Pleasant Street Tea and Coffee Co. It was salmon and cream cheese on a croissant. Delish.

It is a miracle that the man in this house got out alive. How ironic is it that the man has a dangerous job but gets injured after work in the comfort of his own house in a freak accident?
Here is information here on how to help.

If you look under the black circular rollers you can see the net has been damaged. It’s hanging there in shards. Looks like the boys have a lot of mending to do. No fun, no fun at all. Sometimes a dragger will risk going over some rough or jagged rocky bottom to try and find some fish and the result is a damaged net. Sometimes it can pay big dividends, sometimes you an end up with huge tears in the net. I’m not saying that is what happened here, but there is definetly damage to repair here. Not exactly the best of weather to have to do this kind of work.

See this fisherman working on the net? He was hopping back and forth from the boat’s net reel back onto the dock. My knees would have been shaking like a leaf but he was just going back and forth like nothing. One little slip and he was going for an icy swim I’ll tell you that.

Lately I’ve been getting a lot of requests from people asking for pictures or videos that have been posted in the past. I’m happy to find these things for folks but it occured to me that people must not either understand that I categorize everything that gets posted and also attach “tags” which are associated words which a search engine would pick up if you were looking for a particular thing, or they just don’t know that there is a GMG search engine to begin with.
Along the right hand column there is a search engine. It is below the “Get The GMG Podcast” Button and above the “Recent Comments” section.
I’ll be giving more lessons on how to get more out of this blog and others.
There are many features you can use to navigate and find interesting things including the category links at the bottom of the page, the search engine, the calendar, and the older posts text near the bottom of the page. I think many people only think that the blog exists as one page and they can’t go back in time by clicking the older posts button. Most blogs including this one are rolling through with the newest posts at the top and as new posts are added the previous one gets bumped down one. Then when a certain number of posts are reached it goes to the second page which you can find by clicking the older posts text at the bottom, and so on and so on back through the timeline of the blog.
I hope this helps. Click on the highlighted text so you can visualize if you can’t understand the wording. Sometimes it’s easier to see it rather than follow written directions. Tomorrow I will highlight the older posts text in a video for those who might not get it.
