Beautiful Industry Fishing Net Gear
This plate is where the different sections of the net are connected. It connects on the other side to the main cable that will wrap around winch and pull the net aboard the boat. You see where there are three shackles connected to this metal plate which spread the net apart to get the maximum area of ocean covered to snare thse fish.

Kids and Pea Soup
From Sharon Lowe-
When I was a kid, nobody liked pea soup. It was green, mushy, and looked like something out of my baby brother’s diaper. Well, a few days ago, my grandkid Kylie and her friend were at my house, hungry as usual. I offered them tuna, peanut butter and jelly, regular kid stuff. No takers. Then I remembered the pea soup that was made the day before. On a whim, I suggested the soup to the kids. To my amazement , Kylie’s friend said yes. And Kylie (who eats almost everything) soon was begging for 2nds and 3rds. I guess kids’ tastes have changed. Got a leftover ham bone? Try this recipe on the family. Maybe pea soup will become the new Spaghetti-O’s!

Snoop Mad Paints
This is the first time that Snopp Maddie Mad has used the easel to paint. She didn’t do half bad, but that’s to be expected. She’s gifted. The doctor said she’s 1000000th percentile for artistic ability. Honestly.

City of Gloucester Recycling Pogram To Begin
From Sharon Lowe-
“In a few weeks, the City of Gloucester will begin a new trash program using bags instead of stickers. If you are encouraging your family to recycle, here is a list to begin collecting to do family projects using these materials. Most households do recycle, and when children participate, the whole family becomes more active. Kathy Middleton, Gloucester ’s recycling coordinator has these recommendations and tips. We will pass along some fun recycling activities each week on Flapping like a Haddock.”

The Fisherman on the right in the picture is Moses. He has fished for many years on many many boats. Can you guess why they call him Moses? This is a nice shot to see blown up. To view it full screen click the picture and then select “all sizes”.

Mending Nets- Fishermen At Work
See how he has no gloves on? That’s becase it’s impossible to mend the net and work with twine with clumsy gloves on. 20 degrees and blustery cold is not the type of conditions you want to be mending a net for hours on end in, but a fisherman’s work doesn’t stop for cold or wind. The show must go on and a tore up net catches no fish. These guys had been working for three days to repair this net in suck ass conditions, but there really is no other option if they areto get back out making money.
