Supreme Roast Beef Dinner

Back in High School we would go to this joint in Danvers Square called Supreme Roast Beef. The owner George was always tolerant of our young juvenile behavior. The man must have the patience of a saint.

In February of last year he opened up the second Supreme Roast Beef location in the site of the former Chic’s Roast Beef. George, his son Tony and daughter Irene have spruced up the place and are always very pleasant. It’s been a nice upgrade.

Here is a picture of my Roast Beef Plate. Three way(sauce, cheese, mayo). It cost $7.65
Fantastic.

F/V Allison Carol

Captain Peter Mondello of the F/V Allison Carol told me this morning that he will now be doing fishing charters.

I don’t know what he will be charging, have nothing to gain financially if you book a charter through him.

What I do know however is that you won’t find a more relaxed, knowledgeable, fun loving skipper to put you on fish. If you want a hoity toity white glove fishing experience this probably isn’t the charter for you. But if you want to catch fish and plenty of them while having a great time with a really funny skipper that has been commercial fishing longer than I have been alive, then do yourself a favor and contact Pete.

He can be contacted

Is this man crazy or what? LOL

Well I think we all know he’s a little crazy but is there anyone else that decides 23.5 °F / -4.7 °C is a nice temperature for a row?

God bless.

The Causeway

Had fried smelt at the Causeway Restaurant yesterday. $7.99 for a generous amount of fresh fried smelt and french fries. I couldn’t finish them and I can generally put away a huge amount of fried smelt.

Before ordering I was sure to ask if the smelt were fresh or previously frozen. Our most excellent server recognizing that we were seafood industry people assured us that the smelt were indeed fresh to my delight. Service was outstanding. It reminded me that this is the time of year to really take advantage of the Causeway when you can get in without the huge lines of summer. There were a ton of items all under $10. Is there anyone out there that doesn’t already know about the huge portions?

My advice is to get there now while you can, and before the throngs of summer people come and you won’t be able to enjoy this treasure of a place. Another in the long list of great joints to eat in our killer city!

Third week of January and lobster gear is stacked up in piles all over the place waiting til next year.

View from Cruiseport

When you look out the windows to the right the vistas are best and the deck in the summer would be a decent spot for a tourist who wants to get a feel for the industrial waterfront while dining.

I hear that’s what some out of towners want.

Port of Call Grilled Eggplant Sandwich

I had a grilled eggplant sandwich that was outstanding. It came with roasted red peppers, homemade pesto, and swiss cheese on a nice light delicious roll. Cost $7.50

Really really tasty.

The Caesar Salad with steak tips were colossal and looked excellent also. For the amount of steak tips and size of the salad it looked to be a bargain at $8.50

Fantastic TV above the bar. Friendly service. I’d come back again for sure. There were several attractively priced lunch specials.

It’s official

At 12:47PM I got the first pangs of what will surely be the virus that wiped out The Bean yesterday and the Mrs the night before.

I fully expect to be puking my brains out by 8PM tonight. Hopefully it’s only a 24 hour bug like the ones we got last year right around this time.

Hell I’ll be glad to get it over with if it means it will guarantee not to mess up my upcoming trip with the Mrs to Newport. Now at least I won’t be worrying about when I’ll get it.

Ugh.

The Organizer

A very good friend of mine stopped down the wharf this morning to tell me about his experience with this woman that calls herself “The Organizer.”

Last week he stopped by to explain how his house is in total disarray, his children and everyone leave crap all over the house and no one wants to do any chores. He told me about some elaborate system that “The Organizer” was going to put in place with rotating charts of specific responsibility for his children, wife and himself to do.

I was interested in the concept but skeptical that the whole plan would be more difficult to manage and keep on top of each person’s responsibilities than if you just did the work yourself.

Well the moment of truth was yesterday when “The Organizer” was supposed to show up. “The Organizer” was supposed to show up at 6:00PM. At 6:20PM when “The Organizer” still hadn’t shown up, his wife called her only to find that she forgot about their appointment. His wife asked “The Organizer” if her husband(my buddy) could have mistaken the time or date of the appointment to which “The Organizer” replied- “No, I simply forgot.”

Needless to say “The Organizer’s” services will no longer be needed.

Can you only imagine selling a service like that and then not even being able to keep an appointment?

What is wrong with people?

Fishermen’s Wharf, Latitude 43, City Hall

You can see to the left in this picture how large Latitude 43’s deck is. Looks like it’s gonna be a hotspot this summer.
