image

Erik at Passports Is Offering Up an $8.99 Breakfast Buffet Pre Plunge!  We plan to meet there at 10AM, come eat with us!

If you enter your name here on GMG beforehand, get listed as a pledge to plunge and do it, we will enter your name into a hat and pick one of the GMG listed plungers post plunge for a $100 Azorean Gift card. Card was donated by our Terry Weber.  No entries will be accepted on the scene of the crime, you have to put in a comment here or contact me ahead of time to confirm you are on “The List”.

If you pledge to plunge and then bail out for ANY REASON, that gives us free license to ridicule you for the entire year!

I can tell you it is incredibly invigorating and the very best way to start your year. It sets you up to overcome a fear and once you do it the rest of the year you feel like you can and will do anything!

From the Rockport NYE website-

We will entertain you with clowns, cowboys, magicians, musicians – classical, pop, jazz, Dixieland, folk, country, gospel swing and rock and roll – ventriloquists, dance, drama, puppets, and MUCH, MUCH MORE! And, we have planned a spectacular midnight event that will be a truly memorable welcome to the beginning of a new millennium.

Our buttons ($15 adults, $6 children 12 & under, 3 & under, free–no button needed) are now available.

Go See! The Lobstah Crackah Ballet

All right let me just spell it out for you.

You could buy tickets to Boston’s Nutcracker and spend $40 (if you’re lucky) on parking, $74 for nosebleed seats, per ticket for a family of four and refreshments, say conservatively speaking $50 for a total of $386.  To see something that has absolutely zero relevance to your lives.

image

Orrrrrrrrrr, you could bring your family to the Annie At Blackburn and see The Lobstah Crackah Ballet performed by locals and featuring a Lobster and my favorites- super crazy menacing seagulls who poop all over the stage along with a whole bevy of other sea creatures.  For a teeny tiny fraction of that price!

We went night before last and Snoop Maddie Mad and The Bean have not stopped talking about it.  It’s a ballet, so know that up front so there are no words but there is a ton of action and unlike The Boston Ballet’s Nutcracker where it costs you $74 for the worst seats in the house PER TICKET you could go to The Lobstah Crackah Ballet for a mere $15 (suggested donation) per ticket.

image

So again $386 to go see the Nutcracker Ballet in Boston vs $60 to See Seagulls Poop all over the stage at The Annie!!!

I say go with the Poop all the way and that will leave you precisely $326 left over to spend on Christmas presents downtown!

Not to mention that the seating at the Annie puts you on top of the action instead of needing a set of those stupid  mini binoculars to possibly catch a glimpse of the action at The Boston Ballet from the cheap seats.  Duh, No-Brainer.

image

If you bring your family I highly suggest going to Giuseppe’s downstairs from the Annie, the food was fantastic, the service top notch and you can grab one of their specialty pizzas and a couple of kids meals and be out of there for under $50.

Here are some pics from our great night in GTown!

Bike For Savanna Fundraiser

Hi-Pete Kelley here-Sports Director at North Shore 104.9. I saw the piece on Savannah Pallazola around the 15th of November and been amazed by this little girl everytime I see here around town. I met here at Scott Duffany wrestling event 2 years ago and was absolutely taken by her spirit and energy!!!

I have been doing a Sports Talk Show on 104.9 for 10 years now called the North Shore Sports Desk every Saturday morning from 8-9am (interviewing high school student athletes and coaches)and have done many “LIVE” shows to celebrate many high school sports teams Championship seasons in Gloucester(football)-Marblehead(football) and in Lynn for St Mary’s Girls Hockey to name a few!!

Now, my brother Paul Kelley-who owns the show ,has given me permission, along with Len Pallazola and Jackie Burns,(Savannah’s parents) to do a fundraiser at the Gloucester Depot Restaurant on Railroad Ave on December 17th from 8-9am to raise money for a special adaptive bike that Savannah needs as her Prosthetic legs will not allow her to ride a normal bicycle!!! This bike is very expensive-near $4,000 and I believe every child deserves a bike!!

We will have many raffle items-autographs for sale-special guest appearances from Gloucester dignitaries who have fell in love with Savannah or have just seen her around town and want to help out in the Gloucester Tradition!!! After this show-the Gloucester Cinema will open its’ doors at 10am for another special fundraiser for Savannah by showing the New Sherlock Holmes Movie-“A Game of Shadows” with Robert Downey and Jude Law. For a $12 donation you get a ticket to the show-soft drink and popcorn!!! GREAT DEAL-GREAT DOUBLEHEADER for a GREAT CAUSE!!!! Check her website out  www.bikeforsavannah.com    the events so far are posted and one of the companies they are looking at for a bike is www.freedomryder.com  Please be a part of this by spreading the word for Savannah and these events-I will do any interview for you on this or anyone that can help us get a big crowd there to donate anything!! Every little bit helps whether it’s a dime or a dollar!!! Thanks for your time!! Regards-

Good Morning Gloucester Middle Street Walk Coverage

Cape Ann Film Festival’s 2nd Great Week Of Premieres & Guest!

image

The 2nd Annual Cape Ann Film Festival has a busy second weekend planned, with special guests and exclusive presentations at The Cape Ann Community Cinema at 21 Main Street in Gloucester.
On Sunday, November 20th at 2:30pm, Paul Van Ness of CinemaSalem in Salem personally presents and discusses his 35-minute docudrama "The True 1692," about the Witch Ordeal in which 19 people were put to death for supposedly consorting with the Devil. Van Ness wrote, produced and directed the film in cooperation with History Alive!
On Saturday, November 20th at 2:30pm, Sandra Schulberg, producer of the restoration of her father Stuart Schulberg’s documentary "Nuremberg," will personally present and discuss this vitally important film. The film is an account of the 1946 trial during which surviving Nazi officers were prosecuted for war crimes. The film’s official website is www.NurembergFilm.org.
Two very different animated films also debut this weekend. First, the grown-up love story "Chico & Rita," a jazz-flavored tale set to the music of Thelonious Monk and Charlie Parker, will premiere at 7:30pm on Friday, November 18th. On Saturday, November 19th at 7:30pm, the family-friendly treat "Mia And The Migoo" screens, a story about a little girl who becomes friends with a 30-foot forest monster who is none too happy that a greedy developer is destroying his forest.
Other family-friendly films playing at the Festival this weekend include "Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey" (Sunday the 20th at 5:00pm) and the Massachusetts premiere of "The Hammer" (Sunday the 20th at 7:30pm), the Rockyesque story of deaf wrestler Matt Hamill, who went on to fight in the UFC. The film is presented in the open caption format, not only to service deaf audiences, but through intentionally dropped dialogue and some done entirely in sign language, to give to hearing audiences some sense of what it’s like to not be able to hear. The film is rated PG-13.
The rest of the weekend’s schedule is as follows: "The Way" (Fri. Nov. 18 @ 12:00pm & 9:30pm, Sat. Nov. 19 @ 9:30pm), the Free Classic "D.O.A." (Fri. Nov. 18 @ 2:30pm), the French comedy "The Women On The 6th Floor" (Fri. Nov. 18 @ 5:00pm & Sat. Nov. 19 @ 12:00pm) and "My Afternoons With Margueritte" (Sat. Nov. 19 @ 2:30pm).
The 2nd Annual Cape Ann Film Festival runs every day through Sunday, November 27. The full line-up can be found at www.CapeAnnFilmFest.com.
