Seaview Farms

When going to Seaview Farms in Rockport take a walk to the paddocks and visit these beautiful horse.  Brody is actually blind, but is very gentle.  Please make sure when visiting Brody you speak softly and put your hand out for Brody.  I love the horse that was staring at me.  Forget this horse’s name, but very friendly and so actually trying to come with Rick and I.

COWS GRAZING AT ROCKPORT’S WARING FIELD!

Cows Seaview Farms Rockport ©Kim Smith 2015More often we see cows grazing in Ipswich, not along 127A in Rockport. I think I’m in love with these wonderfully friendly cows! They were nuzzling up to each other, pointedly asking to be licked. The smaller cow on the left licked the larger cow until it fell asleep, standing up! They were all doing this communal licking, which looked more like a massage-lick because their tongues are so thick and muscular. The eight cows have been grazing at Waring recently and I believe they are from Seaview Farm.

You have two hours (Until 1PM) to get to the Rockport Farmers Market

Rockport, Harvey Park, across the street from the Red Skiff that you might be able to get into if you wait two more weeks and the tourists have left. But go now. Buy a chicken that was just a puffy little chick at Seaview Farm earlier this summer. Now they are big and round and ready for your frying pan or oven. Get that chicken, fresh eggs, Vidalia Onion Pickle Relish any day 38 South Street, Rockport.

Ken from Seaview Farm at Cape Ann Farmers Market on Thursday. Meet him and the chicken that he is holding at the Rockport Farmers Market. (Chicken is in his left hand.)

Rubber Duck’s Haul at the Rockport Farmers’ Market

rdhaulFrom the Doughnut clockwise:

An actual Butternut Crunch Doughnut and Nisu Bread from Brothers’ Brew Coffee Shop Rockport. The Butternut was still warm. BB has to start cranking more of these puppies out. They run out by 9AM most mornings but if you go here Saturday early you can nail one.

Mann’s Cherry Pie from Mann Orchards in Methuen. Looked too good to pass up.

Two Bell Jars of Ma’s Tomato Marmalade, one hot, one sweet. Taste test said these were going in the basket. 2 Cross Street Gloucester. This place also had some awesome pickles and told us where to get fresh turmeric to make our own.

Sasquatch Smokehouse Smoked Mussels. Holy Cow, taste test said these had to go and next Saturday the smoked Cod will have to go too. 44 Whittemore Street Gloucester.

Porterhouse Steak from Seaview Farm 38 South Street. I’ll get back to you on the taste test but local grass fed beef? A big Rubber Thumbs up. [added edit] Wow, the porterhouse was cooked perfectly by Chef Ted (son) and was very tasty.

What we did not get: Twinlights Soda. Missed it. Fresh made pasta: we were going to circle back but forgot. That’s OK. This is going to be a Saturday 9AM (parking available then) ritual during the summer. And I will hunt some of these places down in the near future.
