The latest Northshore Magazine (Spring 2017) carries a featured article on the new home furnishing company…Room&Board. In the article is a reference to artist Juni VanDyke with photographs of the artists’ work (page 128). In 2015, the then new company (Room&Board) selected Juni’s work for distribution among the store’s statewide locations (California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, NewYork, Oregon, Washington, Washington, DC). Photos from the magazine are on their way!

seARTS Art Loan @ Bass Rocks 2017
Our Tenth Anniversary!

We are very proud to announce that the Art Loan @ Bass Rocks program has hit a milestone… its tenth anniversary year, in 2017!
As an artist-member of seARTS, you have the opportunity to exhibit and sell your artwork in the beautiful setting of the Bass Rocks Golf Club, where over 500 club members plus hundreds of visitors will attend club events, weddings, community group gatherings and functions. Now in its tenth year, this annual display/exhibition has been appreciated by countless viewers, generating sales, commissions and exposing our artist-members to a tremendous group of art enthusiasts. This unique partnership between the arts community and the club, made possible through the efforts of the seARTS team, creates an incredible connection to local arts. All seARTS members are invited to submit recent works, and all work will be juried in by an esteemed panel of judges, hand-picked by the seARTS board.
If your membership may have lapsed, or if you’d like to become a seARTS member, please take this opportunity to renew or to join when you send in your Art Loan @ Bass Rocks application.
Once again, an informative, enjoyable, beautiful opening reception will be held at the club (date TBA) that is free and open to invited guests as well as to the public. These receptions have always been tremendously well-attended, featured a panel of experts speaking on some aspect of making/selling/collecting/caring for art, and offer an opportunity for artists and patrons to meet and mix. This is a wonderful chance for the 20-40 selected participating artists to expose themselves and their work to a local, affluent, art loving crowd.

Get Ready for Cape Ann’s Premiere Fashion Show!

Fashionistas and jewelry lovers across the North Shore are gearing up for the Celebrate Wearable Art Fashion and Runway Show scheduled for September 27 at Cruiseport in Gloucester. Celebrate Wearable Art (CWA) is a half day celebration of handmade unique clothing, jewelry, and accessories crafted by local and visiting artists and designers. The event features a fashion runway show with local models, a sale of locally made clothing, jewelry and accessories, and a buffet of Mediterranean appetizers, coffee and sweets.
The proceeds will benefit the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts – Cape Ann (seARTS) and is organized by seARTS Wearable Art members and volunteers. This year it will kick off Boston Fashion Week, and links the North Shore fashion community with the Boston Fashion Trail by way of Gloucester. 25% of the participating artist-vendors sales are donated to seARTS and for the first time, exclusive wearable vests will be auctioned at the event with vest artists donating all or part of the sale to seARTS).
Here’s what you need to know to participate in this event:
Would you like to attend? If you book your tickets before August 15, your name will be entered into the Arts Destination Drawing, sponsored by the Franklin Cafe. That means you could win one of two packages including a night’s stay after the show, and a gift certificate for shopping and dining. Gift package donors include: Blue Shutters Beachside Inn, Pleasant Street Inn, Lexicon Gallery, Ohana restaurant, and Canterbury Hill Studio & Gallery. Please note the August 15 deadline represents an extension from the original July 20 deadline. Don’t delay on buying tickets, two shows in previous years have sold out!

Are you a fashion designer, artist, or local creative looking to turn your idea into a wearable piece? To check out the possibility of your designs being showcased on the runway, download and save the PDF application from searts.org/cwa, and email to wearableart@searts.org. Or, send your application to seARTS, PO Box 1476, Gloucester, MA, 01931 with an application fee of $35 by August 15. A limited number of spots are available.
Are you a model? A call for additional models will be held on Saturday, August 22 in Gloucester at the Cape Ann Savings Bank Community Room (10 AM to 1 PM, 123 Main Street). Hosted by Darlene Sweeney of WSM Talent, Newburyport, participating models will be matched with fashions and jewelry submitted by designers and artists. Potential models must sign up in advance by emailing wearableart@searts.org; please enter “model inquiry” into the subject line. Be sure to include your name and photo.

2010 ART at Bass Rocks – presented by SeaArts
Held June 8th at the Bass Rocks Golf Club.
Featured local artists and some of their work, a great forum to listen to the artists speak about their work. A great evening understanding the motivation and personal story behind each piece. We were also rewarded with a rainbow ‘Nature’s own painting’ at the end of the program.
I have captured some of the artists and their work below in a slide show; I hope to also put together a short video of them speaking about their work. Please enjoy and support your local artists, and watch for the video on GoodMorningGoucester.
