The Fish on Fridays series is a collaboration between Gloucester photographers Kathy Chapman and Marty Luster. Look for various aspects of Gloucester’s centuries-old fishing industry highlighted here on Fridays.

Capt. Russell Sherman (burgandy t-shirt) and his crew splice in F/V Lady Jane’s new nets after they lost the last ones on what “might have been an anchor.” Russell’s wife Chris (holding t-shirt, with the Northeast Seafood Coalition (http://northeastseafoodcoalition.org) says they worked around the clock to replace the torn nets. They expected to leave soon for several days, looking for cod, among other species.

Molly Ferrill came down the dock last May. She also did a time lapse video from our dock which you can see below and went out lobstering for a day with Tommy Burns, the same Tommy Burns who took out Ben Grenon. You can see those videos below her latest.

Molly fared a whole lot better than Ben did aboard Tommy’s boat as you will see comparing the two videos.

The Stern of Russell Sherman’s Lady Jane.  Over the next few days there will be a series of pictures of the crew- Stevie, Mikey, Russell, and Ringo.  Russell was one of the Gloucester captains featured on “After The Catch” the show with the roundtable discussions with the captains from “The Deadliest Catch”

Russell Sherman is one of the Gloucester captains who sat in on the round table discussions for The After The Catch program with the skippers from The Deadliest Catch.

This is his boat which was also used for filming in the upcoming Sandra Bullock /Ryan Reynolds movie taped in Gloucester “The Proposal”
