This Just In~ Free Edible Arranging Demonstration Tuesday Night, November 11th

Hi Kim – we have a fantastic program lined up for Tuesday, November 11th at the Manchester Community Center.  This event is free to all and just in time for your holiday entertaining! Social time begins at 7:00pm, program begins at7:30pm.  Light refreshments will be served.  Lou will be raffling off his amazing creations.

Lou Greenstein, from Edible Centerpieces, will be demonstrating techniques using carved vegetables and fruits and herbs to create beautiful centerpieces for your holiday table. Do you have an artistic flair and a love for great food? Lou Greenstein can show you how to indulge both passions at once by designing edible centerpieces to delight your guests.

Lou is a New England Epicurean Consultant with 48 years of experience in the dining service world. He has managed hotels, country clubs and restaurants as well as being a television chef, columnist and a consultant to several national kitchen appliance manufacturers. Fred Rice to Present at the Seaside Garden Club on March 11th at the Manchester Community Center

The Seaside Garden club is thrilled to have the always entertaining Fred Rice present his new program entitled “The Well Decorated Garden” on Tuesday, March 11th at the Manchester Community Center.  Doors open at 7:00 pm for social time; the program begins promptly at 7:30 pm.  Light refreshments will be served. We are pleased to announce that this program is open to all at no charge, thanks to the generosity of the Manchester Cultural Council.  

Fred describes his new program: An appealing garden is the result of the sum of it’s individual parts, and plant material is only a part of the horticultural equation. The “bones” of the garden provide the form, the plants provide color, texture, and fragrance, but there is another factor that provides a sort of garnish,  a sort of human touch.  The addition of sculpture, furniture, structures, and architecture help to make each garden unique to it’s creator and the possibilities are nearly endless!  “The Well Decorated Garden” explores many of those possibilities.

Fred Rice, former Manchester resident (now residing in Rome, New York), is a well known garden designer, consultant and sought-after horticultural lecturer. He has nearly 30 years experience as a lecturer/public speaker throughout the Eastern United States and in the UK.  His former home at 9 Friend Street in Manchester was open regularly for garden tours and has been featured in many publications, including Country Homes, Country Gardens, The English Garden and Dream Gardens Across America.  In addition, Fred has many stage and screen credits to his name for wig and makeup design.  His resume also includes floral design and consultation and teaching.  Visit Fred’s website for more information: http://frederickrice.com/

Garden Design for Decades by Betty Sanders.  Gardens should never be a burden to us.  What we want in our 20’s and 30’s is not what the same as we want in later years.  You’ll learn how to keep your gardens as your needs and  abilities change.  It’s a matter of plant selection and design, and can pay dividends for decades.

We are thrilled to have Betty Sanders back to present this program. Betty is a Massachusetts Master Gardener with a degree in organic chemistry and a well-respected garden speaker. Currently serving as vice-president of the Bay State’s 150-member Master Gardener Association, she said she gives lectures that “combine my knowledge of gardening and chemistry” Betty is nationally accredited flower show judge. She has studied gardening everywhere from Arnold Arboretum to the New York Botanical Garden and the New England Wildflower Society.Visit Betty’s website:  http://www.bettyongardening.com/

Guests are always welcome for $5. This year we have two terrific workshops!
