Forced myself out the door this morning… I ended up wandering around and decided to shoot some video of the storm… if you could call it that…
Anyway, this is what I ended up with.
This was uploaded as an HD Video, using the H-264 codec… and the resolution and color has been butchered
I think Vemo does this to get you to Upgrade to the Paid Subscription… It’s an annoying marketing plan.

Duncan rescues the seagull, not realizing that he’s being filmed by a group of conceptual artists and that the footage will soon go viral, turning both him and the gull into minor celebrities. And when an unsavory yet very convincing local, Osbert Marpol, talks him into a not-quite-legitimate loan arrangement, Duncan can’t help but agree in a last-ditch attempt to save the jobs of his employees.When Duncan Leland looks down at the garbage-strewn beach beneath his office window, he sees the words God Help Us scrawled in the sand. While it seems a fitting message—not only is Duncan’s business underwater, but his marriage is drowning as well—he goes down to the beach to erase it. The Gloucester Committtee for the Arts is excited to announce the complete panel of jurors for the Gloucester HarborWalk Public Art Challenge!
At the time of publication of the Call on December 8, 2012, the CFTA welcomed the University of Texas Landmarks museum Director, Andrée Bober;the Peabody Essex Museum Curator of Contemporary Art, Trevor Smith; and teaming up for Cambridge Seven Associates, architects Peter Sollogub and Chris Muskopf, to participate on the jury panel. Joining these distinguished experts on the jury panel are Gloucester citizens John Bell, Phil Cusumano, Morgan Faulds Pike and Jeff Weaver. The CFTA is grateful to the jurors for volunteering their time and considerable talent to help the artists and this process!

Adventure Hauled At The East Gloucester Marine Railways

Hi Joey,
The Adventure got hauled out on the Marine Railway on Monday, 1.14.13, so
some planks could be replaced. I was invited aboard, as the Adventure’s
photographer, to get a unique perspective on the process. This is my very
naïve, non-technical explanation of the process. The guys on the docks and
on the Adventure first had to move the Adventure from her berth over to the
railway. This was done mainly by manpower using brute strength, ropes and
tide assist. Donny King did add a bit of motor support with the Scotia Girl
in the beginning. Once the Adventure got around the end of the pier and
was moved into place along the Railway cradle (with direction by the Railway
coordinator), the guys cranked up the cradle supports to secure the
Adventure. The scuba diver then went down to check that everything was set
up properly with the supports. Once he gave the okay, the Railway
coordinator signaled the engine house to start up the engines which drive
the chain winch, which took the Adventure on a forward and upward
trajectory. Although I’ve seen this done before from just outside the
engine house, it was so powerful seeing it all up close (literally hanging
over the edge of the vessel at times). I never cease to be inspired by and
in awe of these guys and what they do. These folks have always taken the
time to welcome me and to educate me. My hats are off to everyone at the
Marine Railway and the Adventure. Here are a few photos.

The House of Mitch- Enough Already!
OK OK OK, I Submit!
For a couple years now I’ve been hearing from my buddy Mark Ring that the best deal in town was The House of Mitch for lunch. Not just him a few other people who I consider inside insiders of what’s what around G-Town.
When you grow up in Gloucester and someone mentions the House of Mitch you don’t automatically think great lunch, but see that’s where you’d be wrong.
Scallop plate $8.95 and you can barely finish it. Haddock, fried shrimp, you name it, a ton of freshly seafood fried up and under $10.
You’re just gonna have to put any pre-concieved notions that you might have about the joint aside and see for yourself. The place is clean, and Sheila is one of the most efficient friendly bartenders that you’ll ever meet. We got hammered together one Saint Pattys Day in Southie years back with Mark and Kara Ring a good egg that Sheila.
You don’t have to drink booze just because you’re going in there either, they’d be happy to pour you a soda or a glass of milk (they must have milk for the mudslides, right?)
Oh and their chowder is freshly made and I’ve yet to see anyone serve a cup of chowder in a bowl the way they do at the House of Mitch.
Locals that know, know to go there. You should check it out for yourself.

BNI Launches New Business Networking Chapter in Gloucester
BNI, the world’s leading word-of-mouth business referral organization, welcomes local
business professionals to its Gloucester chapter kickoff, on Friday, January 18th, at 7
a.m. at the Bass Rocks Golf Club, located at 34 Beach Road.
Named “BNI Lighthouse,” this new chapter is seeking business owners and sales reps
looking to join the existing core of professionals in growing their business through
word-of-mouth referrals.
The event is free to attend and will feature guest speakers, Patti Salvucci, Executive
