Beautiful Industry

This photo was taken at B & N Fishing Gear on Maplewood Ave.   They carry all types of clamps and hooks and industrial parts.  You might feel intimidated to walk into a joint like this but you’ll save a bunch of money on these kinds of parts.  They also carry heavy duty shovels that are great for snow.  They are 100 times better than any plastic shovel you could buy at a hardware store because they are built to be used in heavy duty applications like the fishing industry.

Industrial Press 300Tons of Pressure

This press packs 300 tons of pressure.  Matt the guy who runs the back shop at B and N Fishing supplies on Maplewood Ave put a dime in there and squished it wafer thin.  300 tons- that’s a whole lot of pressure.  It is used to crimp wire and rope clamps.  You make a loop and put a clamp around it and then the press comes down and makes it tight.  As you can imagine when these clamps are expected to hold tons and tons of weight they have to be reliable.  This machine gets it done.

Beautiful Industry -B & N Fishing Gear Removable Chain Links

This type of chain links you can put together just right to add links together and take them apart when you need strength but to be able to disassemble the chain.

Wire Fishing Cable Used To Tow Nets

The cable wire is actually a bunch of smaller wires braided together to give it incredible strength.  There’s something beautiful about this stuff up close that I never see as beautiful when it’s just sitting around the dock.

B & N Fishing Gear

In the rear of Gloucester Auto Body on Maplewood Ave is B and N Fishing Gear owned by Corrado Buccieri.  This commercial fishing supply store is located across from the Car wash on Maplewood Ave, nowhere near the waterfront but many fishermen do business here.

Rope and Wire At B & N Fishing Gear

Against the wall there are coils of rope and wire used on fishing boats.

There are all different sizes and types.   Some rope is braided some is not, some is hard lay (which means its stiff and more durable) some is soft lay (which is easier to handle but will not last as long with a lot of friction).

When people order the rope or wire they order lengths and at the end of the spool there more often than not is a left over piece that is too short to be of any use.

B & N Fishing Gear

Corrado carries all types of swivels, and snap blocks, gloves, shovels, fish picks, basically anything you need as far as commercial fishing gear, he can get.  Other places to get these type of things are Three Lanterns, and Rose’s Marine.

If you are in need, swing by and see either Matty out back or Corrado himself.
