This Is It!!!!! Friday Night- The Art Haven Lobster Buoy Auction and Art Show

DSC02303

You know all that positive energy that began way back when the lobstermen donated the use of their traps, the merry elves from Art Haven and the usual suspects spent days coordinating and building the lobster trap tree, the kids (and some adults) painted very special buoys to adorn the shining beacon of community spirit that is The 2010 Lobster Trap Tree?

Well here comes the payoff!  Here comes the celebration!   The night when everyone comes together to laugh, shout and enjoy each other’s company at Cruiseport for the Third Annual Art Haven Lobster Buoy Auction.

What better event to tie our incredible community together than the Art (Art Haven) and Sole (fishing community) in one huge collaborative ball of positive energy?

THIS IS IT!!!!!!

I can personally tell you this event is so much fun.  To see these kids beaming on stage as their hand painted buoy gets bid on is absolutely priceless.

So get yourself and your family down to Art Haven and soak in all that positive energy baby!   It’s on Friday night at 6:00PM

Paulie Walnuts’ Art Rocks Buoy To Be Auctioned Off For Art Haven

image

Art Haven Director Dawn Gadow contacted Paulie about making one of his famous Art Rocks Buoys for the upcoming Buoy Auction and Art Show at Cruiseport.

So for all of you who have tried and failed to get yourself an Art Rock you can  bid for Paulie’s Art Rocks Buoy- (a one of a kind) at the Art Haven Buoy Auction.  I can attest to this being a super fun night. The Art Show itself is worth it, seeing all the talent that is coming up in this community is amazing.

More Buoys To Paint During The Winter Carnival Block Party! Saturday Dec 18th

Art Haven Director Dawn Gadow Writes-

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to paint buoys at Art Haven last weekend! We had a record number of buoys painted and wanted to make sure to say a huge thanks to Ben’s Paint, Rose’s Marine, Winchester Fishing, Ace Hardware, Building Center, and everyone who came out to help build the lobster trap tree this year! If you haven’t gotten to see it all lit up yet, you better check it out!
Also, since we ran out of buoys last weekend, we’ve got another buoy painting opportunity this Saturday during the Winter Carnival Block Party! We picked up a few more buoys and those who didn’t get a chance last weekend are welcome to come Saturday between 5 and 7 to paint their own unique ornament for this year’s tree. We do still have a limited number, though, so let us know if you’re definitely coming down to paint one and we’ll be sure to have one for you. You can email us at arthaveninfo@gmail.com or call 978.283.3888.
Thanks again to everyone who was a part of this year’s tree (and is going to be this weekend)! Gloucester’s lobster trap tree is clearly the best around – when else is this much of the community involved in one masterpiece?!?
Happy Holidays from Art Haven!

Be A Part of The Gloucester Lobster Trap Tree- Buoy Painting At Art Haven Dec 10th and 11th

What sets our lobster trap tree apart from the inferior sterile ones from Maine?  Well it’s the kids of course!  Our children get to paint buoys at Art Haven with their names or designs or Scenes on them to adorn the tree.

Our tree isn’t just tossed together by a bunch of lobstermen who should be out hauling traps.  Our tree is a true community project in which everyone young and old can adorn and take pride in.   Snoop Maddie Mad and The Bean had a ball last year painting their buoys at Art Haven as part of the Middle street Walk day activities.  You can too!

I’ll go as far as to say that you are a negligent parent if you don’t bring your child down to Art Haven on either the 10th or 11th so they can paint a buoy and be part of a Great Gloucester Tradition!!!  Winking smile

Art Haven Winter Workshops Dec 6th-17th

image

Hey Joey!
It’s that time of year and we’re getting prepared for a pretty awesome couple weeks here at Art Haven, so I wanted to make sure you know what’s going on! I think you already get the regular emails, but I’m also attaching a flier about buoy painting and the two fliers about winter workshops to this email. It’s quite a bit of info, so let me know if any of it is undecipherable [or we can always just do an interview or two to explain it ;-)] Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and are getting excited about buoy painting and ice sculpting and the Middle Street Walk!
Thanks and hope to see you soon!

Art Haven’s Third Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest and Costume Party

Art Haven’s Third Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest and Costume Party

Halloween is fast approaching, and that means it’s Jack-O-Lantern time.  On Saturday, October 23, Art Haven will be hosting its third annual pumpkin carving contest at its 180B Main Street location.
Carving will begin at 3:00pm and judging will begin around 6:00pm.  Similar to last year, there will be two competitions: an adult contest and a children’s contest.  Adults will receive cash prizes for 1st through 3rd place, in the amounts of $100, $75, and $25.  The kids contest will be judged for scariest, most creative, and funniest.  Runners-up in each category will receive an Art Haven gift card.
In addition to the carving contests this year, though, there will also be a prize awarded to the best adult and child costume. Come dressed as your favorite superhero, local celebrity, or anything else creative you can think of!
“We’ve had a lot of fun carving pumpkins the last two years,” says Art Haven Director Dawn Gadow. “We can’t wait to add costumes to this year’s party.”
Pumpkins will be supplied at the event, with suggested donations of $5 for small pumpkins and $10 for large pumpkins. Art Haven, with support from Wolf Hill Home and Garden Center and Rockport National Bank, hopes to involve the entire community for a night of fun in celebration of the fall season.
