Gloucester Fishtown Horribles Parade: We are excited to announce a new holiday tradition for the city of Gloucester, our first annual “Parade of Trees”.

We know what you’re thinking “It’s not even officially fall yet, slow down!” While we want to hold on to these last few days of summer, we have to start thinking about next years parade and we are just too excited that we had to share this new event that’ll not only be another great community gathering but help to raise funds for the 2023 July 3rd parade!

We are looking for businesses, community groups, families and individuals who are interested in donating a decorated tree to be displayed and then raffled off to the public. Creative and thoughtful themes are encouraged and our Horribles Parade Judges will be judging each tree to win prizes as well!!

This weekend will be full of family friendly events and entertainment as well!

Please message us on Facebook or email us at fishtownhorriblesparade01930@gmail.com with any questions or to get more information on how to get involved!

More details about the event to be posted in the weeks to come!!!

Lights Along the Shore

This year’s Parade of Lights called for houses along the route to get involved. Earlier in the day we were returning from a day at the back of Wingaersheek and noticed these townhouses all decorated and ready to go. How fun!

Farewell Glorious Summer!

It’s been a memorable and glorious summer here in Gloucester. As the signs of autumn are beginning to show, it seems appropriate to share some waning summertime views.

Reader Question “Canned Codfish”

To Whom It May Concern:

Do you sell canned cod fish?  I would like to make cod fish patties, but can’t find canned cod fish.  Can you help?

Thank you

Denise Carr-DeRamus

My reply-

Try hake or haddock you won’t know the difference

I’d love to tape a segment with seafood professionals where we batter up or make fish cakes with hake, cod or haddock and have them try to identify each one once they’re all ground up and put in a breading.

Its gotta be a dozen or more years running the men from Phi Kappa Sigma come down to Captain Joe’s for Rush week lobsters.

Tradition. Gotta love it!
If you’re a prospective pledge and you don’t go with PHI KAPPA SIGMA you really need to reevaluate your whole college existence.
Just drop out and become a garbage man already because you’re not college material.
Here they are back in 2008-

Rush Phi Kappa Sigma At MIT!

The boys from Phi Kappa Sigma at MIT come every year for rush week to pick up a ton of lobsters to serve prospective rushees.

I thought MIT was primarily an engineering school but apparently they have their marketing down pretty good too!

After Writing About My Disappointment In The North Shore OG Roast Beef Spot Back In April, Faith WaS Restored By A Different Beverly Roast Beef Place- Nick’s Roast Beef & Pizza On Essex Street Beverly (Near The Monserrat Train Station)

Joey Ciaramitaro

April 11, 2022·

I’m not going to mention the name of the place because I don’t slam small family businesses but a place I once considered the kings of the Roast Beef game and the standard to which all other three ways were measured just served me a total turd. Grey meat, cold, barely any jimmy, no crunch on the bun. Barely edible. A 4 on a scale from 1-10. I’m so disappointed and saddened by how far they’ve fallen at the same time that you have places like Jamie’s Roast Beef which is taking the beef game to a whole new level.

I guess the memories from all those late night rendezvous in my late teens in high school will be all that’s left of this once great establishment.

They’re not even the best Nicks in Beverly anymore. Nicks Pizza, Subs and Roast Beef on Essex St. blows them out of the water

Thanks to Dan Robertson suggestion in reply to my disappointment 21 weeks ago I gave *the other Beverly Nick’s a go and man was it glorious-

Super Three Way COTB Nick’s Roast Beef and Pizza Essex St Beverly MA

Thanks Dan Robertson.

When in Beverly veer toward the Essex Street Nick’s and you won’t be disappointed.
