I know it may not sound sexy but I’ll tell you what, this was soooo easy and soooo delicious.

I woke up around 3:00AM to trim and season our holiday rib roast.

Normally I would carve the ribs off of the roast and then tie them back on with butchers twine. Many recipes call for the consumer to ask their butcher to perform this task which will aid in the carving once the roast is done.

I decided to remove the ribs cut them into individual beef ribs, season liberally with kosher salt, coarse pepper, onion powder garlic powder and paprika and toss them in the crock pot with a cup of beef stock.

Wishing You a Merry Christmas 2022

My small gift to you is a simple recipe to liven up your holiday libations. I have recently discovered Chandon (pronounced with a soft CH and pursed lips…not a hard CH like chowder…think Paris, not Boston. I mention this because I got some side-eye looks and barely civil correction before I learned better). But I digress a bit. I discovered Chandon Garden Spritz, a sparkling wine with traces or bitters and oranges. It’s become a favorite despite being a little difficult to find locally.

I make ice cubes out of cranberry pomegranate juice using orange chunks, rosemary springs and fresh cranberries. These ice cubes are festive and tasty in the Spritz drink. I call it Itsy Bitsy Ritzy Spritz just to amuse myself. I’m sure they would liven up most drinks that need a little ice.

Although difficult to find locally, I do find it at Mile Marker One restaurant so kudos to them! They even have cute little Chandon Garden Spritz pillows decorating some furniture. So, in addition to the fine menu offerings for your meals, there are also very fine offerings behind the bar. The ice cubes are my own though……try it! Merry Christmas to you all and thank you for your continued support of the blog and the podcast. Although we are not broadcasting today, we hope to “see” you again soon.

Happy Holidays from a couple of Herons in Magnolia

On Tuesday evening right before sunset there were two Herons flying and making a cool noise and then they landed in the rocks.  Cold not get any closer but they stood there letting me take their photo.
