Gloucester Education Foundation’s The Power of Play event is BACK! 3/26/23, 11am-2pm at The GHS Fieldhouse

When: Sunday, March 26, 2023 11am-2pm

Where: Gloucester High School Field House

32 Leslie O. Johnson Road, Gloucester

Who: Gloucester families, friends and children of all ages.

Suggested donation $5/family at the door; no family will be turned away for lack of funds.

What: A day of hands-on, low-tech play for all ages, hosted by Gloucester Education Foundation and run by a powerhouse team of community and student volunteers!

The Power of Play centers around fun family activities, and is designed to be welcoming to a broad spectrum of ages, ability levels, and learning styles. This year’s event will also feature some special activities from regions around the world that are present in our Gloucester community.

It would take us all day to name all of the awesome activities at Power of Play, but here are a few: collaborative art projects, fort-building, oobleck-making, sand play, capoeira, an invisible…

Gloucester Harbormaster’s Honored as Among Nation’s Best for Sixth Straight Year

Mayor Greg Verga and Harbormaster Thomas Ciarametaro Jr. are pleased to announce that the Harbormaster’s Office has been honored for operating one of the best marinas in the country for the sixth year in a row.

The office has been awarded the Elite Fleet designation by Marinas.com in the annual Boaters’ Choice Awards. The award is based on reviews by boaters who use the marina. Awardees must have had at least 10 reviews in 2022, and an average rating of at least 4.7 stars.

Fewer than 3 percent of marinas earn the Elite Fleet honor.

The Harbormaster is responsible for the Inner Harbor, near downtown; Southeast Harbor; and Western Harbor, off Stage Head.

“As a beautiful coastal community, it is great to see our Harbormaster recognized for their hard work maintaining the City’s facilities and supporting the boating community,” said Mayor Verga. “I am proud of their commitment and glad to see them receive this well-deserved award.”

Online reviews about the marina praised the friendly and professional staff, high-quality facilities, and convenience of the shuttle service to downtown.

“We do our best to help our boaters in every way possible, and this serves as a true testament to our hard work,” said Capt. Ciarametaro.
