Just a few more schooners….. while Gloucester pages have been full of beautiful Schooner Festival photos… and just maybe you’ve seen enough, it seems silly to not share mine.

We decided to go back the 525 on Lexington Ave in Magnolia for dinner recently. It’s one of the places we like to go for a cozy, friendly, neighborhood atmosphere. There is seating inside and outside, though I usually prefer indoor seating. The food is consistently good and the service always efficient and friendly. I had chicken piccata and Jim tried the garlic shrimp pizza. It was a lovely relaxing dinner and I look forward to going back. Maybe we’ll see you there!

Sept 6, 2022 Another Year-Another Batch Of Lobsters For MIT Skulls

The Boys are Back September 7th, 2021-

It’s the first week of September and that means the Boys From Phi Kappa Sigma Are Back For Their Rush Week Lobsters
Past Years-
Its gotta be a dozen or more years running the men from Phi Kappa Sigma come down to Captain Joe’s for Rush week lobsters.
Tradition. Gotta love it!
If you’re a prospective pledge and you don’t go with PHI KAPPA SIGMA you really need to reevaluate your whole college existence.
Just drop out and become a garbage man already because you’re not college material.
Here they are back in 2008-
The boys from Phi Kappa Sigma at MIT come every year for rush week to pick up a ton of lobsters to serve prospective rushees.
I thought MIT was primarily an engineering school but apparently they have their marketing down pretty good too!
With so much great coverage of the Labor Day Weekend events, here’s a personal take on our enjoyment of the schooners.

Hi Joey
Can you please share this “thank you“ and update with the GMG readership? Your support and the generosity of your followers was an important part of our success.
Kristin
Together Gloucester, Inc.’s initiative to help students with sneakers for back to school was a HUGE success …. BIGGER than we could have ever imagined!
❣️Not only were we able to help our local students start the school year off on the right foot, we were able to help a wide population of adult neighbors thanks to a donation of 355 pairs of sneakers from a generous friend at PUMA. 👟❣️👟❣️👟❣️👟❣️👟
A special thank you to the individuals that donated to our Venmo campaign! We purchased new youth sneakers with those funds. We also received a donation of 2 dozen pairs of new youth sneakers from PUMA.
We were able to support our community partners at Wellspring House, Pathways for Children, Gloucester Police Department (Official), West Gloucester Trinitarian Congregational Church, and Gloucester Schools with new sneakers for children and students from pre-school to high school. We also helped our local teachers and school resource officers Kops-n-Kids, Sro Brendan Chipperini, and SRO_Gaming_ with backpacks, a lunch box, new clothes, and school supplies. 👟🎒📓🧦👖✏️
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of PUMA, we have also distributed several pairs of adult sneakers to the following organizations and community advocates over the past few weeks and hope to continue as needs arise

Received some information on these cuties, their names are Margaret Danger, love the middle name and Calypso. Love the fact that these kids are so confident on their schooners. These kids were on the Alert.

The Lobster Cove String Quartet makes its debut Saturday evening, September 16 at 7:30pm. The white walls of the historic Annisquam Village Church will become the canvas for a soundscape of swirling tone-colors, as the Gloucester-based group presents To Paint the Night: a diverse bill of fare showcasing the richness and versatility of the string quartet format.
The program opens with Astor Piazzolla’s fiery Four for Tango, before probing the dark night of the soul which is Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8—dedicated by the composer “to the victims of fascism and war.” Thelonious Monk’s ‘Round Midnight, newly arranged for quartet by violinist and composer Scott Moore, is all blues and purples and grays: lush, playful, and mysterious. The concert closes with the sensual Impressionism of Claude Debussy’s radiant String Quartet in G minor.
The Lobster Cove String Quartet is the latest creation of Moore, Artist-in-Residence at the Annisquam Village Church. Moore is joined by members Erica Pisaturo (violin), Brandon White (viola), and Alex Fowler (cello). Admission is by donation ($35 suggested), and a reception with the artists will follow the performance.
