Andrew Ernest’s Medical Recovery Fund

This was shared to GMG:

Dear Friends, Family, and Community Members,

Our dear brother, Andrew Ernest, needs your support. On September 30th, Andrew suffered severe head trauma and was med-flighted to a level one trauma center. He is currently receiving treatment in a neurological critical care unit. Earlier this week, he underwent decompressive craniectomy surgery to remove a large blood clot and reduce brain swelling. The surgery was successful, but he remains in critical condition and is at risk of several complications. We are grateful he is alive and receiving exceptional care.

For Andrew, the road ahead will be long and arduous. He will require tremendous, unwavering support—the kind of support he provides to others without hesitation or conditions. Those lucky enough to know him will tell you he has a heart of gold and would walk to the ends of the earth to help you. Love emanates from him and is present in every bear hug given to his nieces, nephew, godson, and friends’ children. He advocates for rescue dogs and is happiest cuddled up with his own. He is a dedicated son, loving brother, proud uncle, and loyal friend. He is an established engineering technician in the semiconductor industry, and his colleagues respect him deeply. He’s a self-taught auto mechanic who generously repairs the vehicles of friends and family and can troubleshoot any mechanical issue. The bottom line is that he is a good guy who needs your support.

We hope that with time, continued medical care, and support, he will return to giving bear hugs, caring for his beloved dogs, and turning wrenches. With your support, this fund will help offset the significant medical costs and financial burdens Andrew will face on his road to recovery. We appreciate any financial contribution made; no amount is too small. Please also consider supporting Andrew by sharing this campaign with friends, family, and on social networks. Let’s show up for Andrew in the way he would for others.

We are humbled and immensely grateful for every prayer and every ounce of love and positivity. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Sincerely,

The Family of Andrew Ernest

Chappy Ferry

The Chappy Ferry. (Click the link for a video) Finn and I went to Martha’s Vineyard over the weekend because fishing the Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby (in it’s 48th year) has become a fall tradition (for about the last four years). With 4:45 a.m wake ups to be ready for the sunrise blitz, I got to watch the Chappy Ferry wake up with the world as well….and then watched it/them go back and forth for hours. It has always made me laugh. On Time II and On Time III go back and forth from the Edgartown Memorial Wharf to Chappaquiddick all day long. The trip from one dock to the other is just over one minute. It takes just over four minutes for a ferry to load up with cars (maybe 4 max), travel across the way, dock, unload, and reload, and make the return trip. Not sure why that cracks me up, but it does. It adds such an interesting twist to one’s commute I should think.

The Open And Closed Case Against Teflon Coated Cookware

This is an actual pan I’ve been using for months.

As a man of honor I have to admit my stupidity that I didn’t realize that this was actual the teflon coating peeling off rather than some seasoning that was stuck to the bottom of the pan.

I feel pretty dumb because I had heard people complaining about the teflon part on teflon pans coming off but I’d just relegated that to people from stainless steel pan companies planting false stories to scare people from buying teflon pans.

My rationale went something like this-

The Government steps all over and over regulates everything to death so there’s no way they would allow teflon pans to exist in the marketplace if the actual teflon would flake off and people would thereby end up eating it would they? By my way of thinking, surely not.

Also my beautiful wife Kate who has much better eyes than I do and is at least 10 times more critical about what she eats than I am would never consciously use a pan that had flaking teflon on it, would she???

But here we are. This is triple negative bananas.

Needless to say I’m looking for a good recommendation for a good, safe all purpose pan to cook eggs, bacon, brown my lobster roll buns. Not cast iron because we have a glass cooktop. Any tips for me?

This is what I ended up as a replacement because of it’s price during today’s Prime day and the overwhelming number of positive review- Link to purchase here

CAPA 2023 Quick Draw — pat morss

This is Cape Ann Plein Air week, and I always enjoy the Quick Paint that gathers the artists together in a concentrated area to produce their paintings in just 2-hours.

The venue was all of Harbor Loop, but most artists favored Maritime Gloucester’s docks.
The deck overlooking Maritime Gloucester had a great vantage point.
It’s fun watching how different artists interpret a similar view, here with an hour still to go.
As a backdrop, schooner Adventure offers inspiration.
Concentration and discipline are the name of the game.
Even her special mittens are part of the composition.
Lynx sits across the harbor, docked at Ocean Alliance’s headquarters, the Paint Factory.
Beth is pleased with her version of Lynx and the Paint Factory.
Some of the artists test their balance on the floating dock.
With 10-minutes to go, finishing touches are applied to Adventure’s gunwale.
And the bell rings – “Put down your brushes.”
Framing, judging, and a public sale followed at the tent for both CAPA and guest artists.
