Welcome Back Birds!

You have probably noticed your backyard birds are reappearing and very busy at the feeders. Migration is well under way and we traveled up to Parker River Wildlife Refuge to check it out. We were rewarded with egret and swan sightings as well as some Norther Harriers. So happy to see them back! For additional photos, check out Pat D’s Photos and Adventures on Facebook at this link. Rick and I went to the Beauport Hotel for lunch on Thursday for Rick’s birthday.  The food, service and view were excellent.  A very relaxing lunch.  The Greasy Pole looked lonely but only a couple of months before the excitement begins.  VIVA

LaRosa’s In Newburyport

We treated ourselves to a night out with our friends Susan and Leo LaRosa by going to LaRosa’s on Market Square in Newburyport last week. What a delightful experience we had! Riley, our server was top notch. The meal started with focaccia bread topped with red sauce and cheese….very tasty. The wine selection was outstanding (though I had one of the cocktails…really delicious). Susan, Leo and Jim each got a different wine and they said it was excellent.

Here you see some of our food selections including Caesar salad, meatballs, prosciutto plate, Rigatoni Blanco, Chicken Milanese, and a Salmon entree. Our LaRosa friends were quite pleased with our entire adventure. It was WELL worth the drive. Highly recommended for a special occasion gathering of friends or family. Here’s a link for more info.

HARBORTOWN CULTURAL DISTRICT PRESENTS FROM THE DEEP: A DOWNTOWN GLOUCESTER ARTS PARTY

GLOUCESTER, MA – The Harbortown Cultural District is excited to present From the Deep: A Downtown Gloucester Arts Party on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 11:00AM – 5:00PM.Explore the depths of art and culture in the City of Gloucester during this free arts party. Over 25 unique cultural events will take place at cultural and business locations across the cultural district in Downtown Gloucester.

The Harbortown Cultural District was established in 2013 with funding from the Mass Cultural Council’s Cultural District Initiative. According to the MCC’s website, the “Cultural District Initiative drives economic growth, strengthens our distinctive local character, and improves the quality of life of families across Massachusetts.” Gloucester is also home to the Rocky Neck Cultural District, which was one of the five initial cultural districts in 2012. Gloucester was the first city in the commonwealth to have two distinct cultural districts.

At the Arts Party, you can enjoy 7 art exhibitions, 4 musical performances, 3 video installations, 2 live art demonstrations, free kids activities, and so much more. The Sawyer Free Library will be hosting their Sawyer Free Library Arts Scavenger Hunt, you can participate by visiting the library to grab your checklist, and win prizes if you find a book related to the arts or a piece of art in the library. The City of Gloucester’s Community Development team will also be downtown, you can head to the I4-C2 site where they are teaming up with Schooner Adventure and Three Sheets to the Wind for sea shanties.

“The Harbortown Cultural District is excited to pilot this new event to highlight contemporary art happening in Gloucester.” Said Gloucester’s Arts, Culture, and Events Coordinator Miranda Aisling Hynes. “We’ve got multiple video installations, contemporary gallery openings, and musical performances with incredible partners from across the district that showcase the depth of the cultural scene here in the city.”
