Bring your own picnic dinner (with settings) and join us at our extravagant white-clothed tables arrayed with flowers.  Toast the enchanted performances with a complimentary glass of champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries!

Walk away with one of our wonderful gift baskets that will be raffled off!

Admission donation is $25 per person. Dress is colorful festive.

Community Sailing on Adventure

You know summer is fleeting by, so come sailing on Adventure while the weather is still perfect. The next two Saturdays, the 20th and 27th we are sailing from 2 to 5. It’s just $30 for members, ($60 for non-members so it is worth joining up). Because of the harbor dredging Adventure had to move from Maritime Gloucester, but now you can board the shuttle next door at Solomon Jacobs Landing for a short ride out to the ship. I’ll be on the crew both days, ask for me and I’ll show you the ropes, (yes, literally).

 Experience the magnificence of Gloucester’s flagship schooner! A National Historic Landmark, Adventure is an icon of the American fisheries and a floating classroom for maritime history. Adventure is a 122’ historic wooden fishing schooner built in 1926 in Essex, MA — it is truly a destination not to be missed! Bring a picnic and help our crew hoist the sails, and learn about her legacy, restoration, and life aboard one of the Fast and Able fishing schooners. 

Boarding will begin at 1:30 PM  via the Harbor Launch from Solomon Jacobs Park at 19 Harbor Loop, Gloucester.

  • So grateful for the calls and emails  related to the arts hotline: sefatia4arts@gloucester-ma.gov.

  • The first business to respond to arts hotline was ZEKE’S.

  • FREE shared studio spaces are available downtown within the historic Fitz Henry Lane house:

    • on the second floor; approx 6 feet by 10 feet; carved out space within landmark Schooner Adventure headquarters
    • on the first floor; approx 6 x 10 feet; carved out shared space within Sail GHS office
    • email sefatia4arts@gloucester-ma-gov if you’re interested in signing up for one of the shared studio spaces
    • Sail GHS has also extended a generous offer to bring artists sailing who may want to be out on the water for their plein air work

The Urchin Exchange Expands!

The Urchin Exchange is now selling clothes and accessories for the wee ones AND for women!

If you’ve already been shopping and/or consigning at the Urchin Exchange then you have even more reason to continue.  If you have yet to visit…then this is the time to hurry up and do so!

The store’s owner, Melanie, is as helpful and friendly as she is enterprising. After building a large fan base, including myself, that turn to her often for children’s staples, original pieces, and the perfect gifts, she started receiving numerous requests to expand and begin handling women’s items as well.  She has now created a fabulous shop that offers selections of Women’s, Children’s and Maternity clothing, handbags, shoes, baby gear, toys and other gifts…that also presents Cape Ann with another wonderful opportunity to be eco-friendly.  With ever changing inventory and a large selection, it is next to impossible to leave empty handed.

Not looking to spend more money?  Well then, what about making some?

The Urchin Exchange is always looking for on TREND (search Pinterest for *on *trend *clothing) and CURRENT (1-3 years new) styles in the BEST condition!  Melanie is currently accepting Fall and transitional pieces.

No appointment is necessary if you follow the Tips & Rules of Consigning found on their website www.theurchinexchange.com

I spent last Sunday digging through my closet and taking an honest look at what pieces, still in good condition, current, and “trendy” (or at least as trendy as I am willing to go), that I knew I would not find the occasion to wear.  I brought them to Melanie and she made fair decisions about which pieces she would like to add to her inventory.  I can now look forward to earning some pocket money and having a trimmed down, tidy closet.

This year the Urchin Exchange is the proud winner of North Shore Magazine – Best Of North Shore for Maternity Clothing!  One stop shopping for Moms, Moms-to-be, and their little ones.

The Urchin Exchange is now operating a new inventory management system with consignor log it to track individual sales and earnings as well. I can’t lie, it is fun to take a peek once in awhile while sitting on the couch late at night and see my earnings add up!

Another option is Drop & Donate.  You can drop a bag of 20 or fewer items labeled with the D&D ticket, they will take what they want and donate anything they don’t to Second Glance.  Read more about Drop & Donate on the website!

I’m getting this bad boy for my grilling stuff and right now with it’s on sale price of just $59.19 I think it’s a complete no-brainer for many different uses.  This would be good in a garage, or laundry room, wherever.  Here’s the link to buy it.  It’s normally $73.99, at $59.19 it’s a steal.
