Question, do you need to have a $249 unit in more than just an upstairs and a downstairs? Do you need them in every room? Do they cost more to wire?

Or any alternatives? I’d love to hear some real world testimonials.

This was a “one and done” 30 second shot over the Essex Marsh last night.   It was close to midnight and I was heading home and could not resist stopping, even though I’m a sissy when it comes to being out at night alone….the reflection of the house and the twinkling stars are what gave me a boost of courage lol!

Pick #2: St. Anthony’s Feast in Boston’s North End

Each year the people of the North End invite you to celebrate with them as they honor their patrons Saint Anthony and Saint Lucy with colorful parades, religious services, strolling singers, live entertainment and of course an abundance of great Italian and American food.

Begun in 1919, by Italian immigrants from the small town of Montefalcione in Avellino, Saint Anthony’s Feast has become the largest Italian Religious Festival in New England. Named the “Feast of all Feasts” by National Geographic Magazine, this authentic Italian street festival has it all for people of every age: parades, strolling singers, live entertainment, contests and religious services are held daily.

Visitors stroll the beautifully decorated streets sampling the best Italian street foods from 100 pushcarts enjoying arancini, sausage peppers & onion, quahogs, calamari, pizza, pasta and of course zeppole, cannoli and gelato. Guests can also browse the wide selection of souvenir keepsakes and mementos.

The highlight of the Feast is the ten hour procession of the Statue of Saint Anthony through the streets of the North End accompanied by devotees, numerous marching bands and floats. The Statue of the Saint returns to his chapel as confetti and streamers cascade from the rooftops.

Other events include: The Filippo Berio Culinary Pavilion featuring cooking demonstrations and sampling from the North End and Boston’s most fabulous restaurant, an annual Open Air Mass in honor of Saint Anthony, including the veneration and individual blessing of the Relic of Saint Anthony and the distribution of blessed Saint Anthony Bread.

The magazine of Italian Food Wine & Culture said Saint Anthony’s Feast is “a spectacle not to be missed!” Saint Anthony’s Feast is held annually on the weekend of the last Sunday of August.

Pick #3: Go Fly a Kite

We have, all of a sudden, been doing a ton of this.  I can’t lie, it is not always my favorite activity what with the tangling, tearing, and untying of knots, but when/if it goes smoothly, it has been so much fun.  Gloucester and Rockport have been hopping lately with music festivals, fireworks, a sidewalk bizarre, block parties, the waterfront festival, a large fishing tournament….and, of course, the upcoming Schooner Festival.  This weekend looks like it could be a quiet weekend to catch up on simple activities like reading, bike riding, unwinding, fishing, and…kite flying.  Give it a try if it has been a while.

August 25, 2016 – Thursday Concert At Harbor Loop 6:00 p.m. On Stage will be “What Time is Mr. Fox”. Traffic will be heavier than normal at Rogers Street and Harbor Loop from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

August 27, 2016 and August 28, 2016 Public Beaches – Both Saturday and Sunday weather conditions are predicted to be conducive for popular Beach attendance.  Expectations are for heavy traffic on Eastern Avenue and Thatcher Road, as well as Concord and Atlantic Streets from 9:00 a.m. until noon.  Police will be on duty at Good Harbor Beach.  Wingaersheek Beach and Stage Fort Park.  We will also have area cruisers monitoring traffic at the Eastern Avenue Lights and Concord and Atlantic Streets when available.

August 27, 2016 – Saturday – The Annual Magnolia Road Race – The race will take place beginning at 7:30 a.m. Expectations are for traffic delays and for brief road closures on Lexington Avenue, Norman Avenue, Magnolia Avenue and Shore Road until approximately 10:00 a.m.

August 27, 2016 – Saturday – The Fishermen’s Memorial Service – The service will begin at 5:00 p.m. proceeding from Legion Square to Stacy Boulevard.  Expectations are for minor traffic delays.  The public is encouraged to join us in commemoration to honor our Fishermen.

We will continue our increased Police Patrol of the quarries, Long Wharf and after hours at Wingaersheek Beach.

Announcement: City Declares Water Use Restrictions

In conjunction with our DPW and Water Compliance Office, the Mayor just approved water restriction measures which will be announced as effectively enforced immediately.

The full release is attached within this email and we wanted you all to be aware before we distributed widely throughout the community. Please note that this is not a full water ban, instead, water restricted to use after 5PM and before 9AM.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, but the main bullets are:

• Outdoor watering is limited to “handheld” with a hose or a watering can after 5 p.m. or before 9 a.m.;
• Outdoor watering with irrigation systems and sprinklers is prohibited;
• Watering of municipal parks and recreation fields with irrigation systems and sprinklers will be limited and be before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
• In Gloucester watering is only at essential locations and at areas where vegetation is being reestablished for erosion control such as at the Little River Restoration Project;
• Filling swimming pools, washing cars and washing buildings is prohibited.

Music on Meetinghouse Green to Benefit the Grace Center

Deb Hardy and Alternate Roots Band in Free Concert, Friday, August 26, 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm

Corner of Middle and Church Streets, Gloucester, MA

Deb Hardy is a contemporary folk singer/songwriter from Gloucester whose songs reflect the drama, beauty and serenity of this ocean harbor community. Her style of singing and guitar playing is rhythmic, expressive and powerful. You may hear such influences as Kate Bush, Yes, and Led Zeppelin. Deb performs her songs in a warm, relaxed, and energetic spirit.
Alternate Roots is a roots rock party band made up of Tom Alley, Jamie Melville and Carl Di Franza. Together with Deb Hardy, they cover tunes from the Etta James, Rolling Stones, Talking Heads, Blind Melon, Alabama Shakes and more.

This is concert eight in a series of nine free outdoor concerts presented by the Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation.   The family-friendly concert begins at 6 pm. Bring a picnic, folding chairs or blankets. In case of rain, the event will take place inside the Meetinghouse (no food or drink permitted inside.) Donations will be accepted to benefit the Grace Center.

About the Grace Center
In the winter of 2009, the Cape Ann Clergy Association recognized an increasing number of requests for help from low-income and homeless adults. A Needs Assessment Study identified a number of pressing needs including the absence of a safe day space for the homeless in Gloucester. On December 22, 2011, the Grace Center, Inc. opened as a day resource center with professional staff and volunteers. To date we have served over 700 individuals.  http://gracecenterinc.org/
