Jim O’Neil has put together a fund-raising effort for JD Martz
Hi Joe, I hope all is well with you!
I wanted to share an idea for Good Morning Gloucester that will touch your readers hearts and inspire the North Shore community.
I’m working on a project for local contractor, Jim O’Neil who has put together a fund-raising effort for JD Martz, a 29-year-old family friend from Beverly who became paralyzed from the shoulders down last year. JD has a supportive family and a loyal girlfriend who has stood by him as he works toward rehabilitation and recovery. Their goal is to build JD a home in Danvers that will accommodate his electric wheelchair and new way of life. They’ve created an online fundraising drive at www.jdmartz.com. Jim is also coordinating in-kind donations of services, time and materials from sub-contractors and suppliers in the North Shore area. Jerry Noble Electricians of Gloucester and New England Design Works of Manchester by the Sea have already committed.
JD’s story went relatively under the radar last year and we hope this fundraising effort will bring a new focus to his ongoing cause. Attached is a press release and a bio that gives an overview of JD’s story. I’ve also attached a flyer that we put together to garner support from the building community.

Cape Ann Plein Air
Joey did a post yesterday about the fact that the third annual Cape Ann Plein Air Arts Festival and Competition is nearly here! This year’s competition and festival will take place between October 7th and 15th.
Please click on the link below and find the Gala Night ticket links.
Cape Ann Plein Air – Awards Gala Tickets can be purchased HERE
There are two ticket types:
- The Premiere Party is $150 per ticket and those tickets are extremely limited. These tickets will allow you to get up close and personal with the artists and see their art in a more intimate setting.
- The Gala tickets are $65 each from now September 30th and then $75 after that.
The cost of your ticket can be taken off the price of a painting when you buy one!
The other night I had the privilege of photographing a Plein Air event on Mussel Point hosted by Diamond Sponsor Engel & Volkers by the Sea, who by the way, just picked up the keys to their newest location in, none other than, Gloucester! So exciting!
Watching the artist paint on the coastline was such a wonderful experience. I look forward to catching glimpses of the artists at work during this year’s festival. You can also follow the action on Cape Ann Plein Air’s Facebook page HERE
Here are some of my photos from last week’s event.

Full Moon Ghee!
It’s that time again and YES we did make our FULL MOON GHEE! (Auspicious Ghee)
Ayurveda Wellness Healing, LLC Organic Ghee! Was made today and ready to pick up or be shipped, while supplies last!
Everything around us has an effect on something within us. The frequency of the moon affects the mind and influences our feelings, emotions, and desires. The practice of making Ghee on a full moon is considered auspicious because the moon is thought to influence “Soma” the source of nourishment, nectar, and bliss. Soma is a Sanskrit term which is derived from the root word “su” which means to energize, stimulate, expand and grow.
Think of Ghee as liquefied sunlight!
Ghee is the most refined end product of milk and one should consider using in place of butter. Because the milk solids have been removed, it has a higher smoking point than butter.
