FishingBooker, the US’s largest website for booking fishing charters, just announced the 7 best fishing destinations for Labor Day Weekend 2019, and Dana Point is one of them. The list was based on a number of factors such as user reviews, vicinity to good fishing, but also specifically took into account places in the US have beautiful nature and are within easy reach of some of the nation’s biggest cities.
Gloucester is one of those places that make you feel instantly relaxed as soon as you arrive. Visitors could spend hours walking the area’s wild beaches or just sit down with a coffee and watch the boats sail by in the annual Schooner Festival. Gloucester’s harbor is full of small boats heading out in search of fish or returning to port ladened with the day’s catch. September is prime Tuna season, with big Bluefin giving anglers the fight of their life. As if that wasn’t enough, monster Mako and Blue Sharks patrol these waters, feeding on the big schools of Mackerel that call the area home. In short, it’s the perfect Labor Day fishing escape!
The full list of the best fishing destinations for Labor Day Weekend 2019 (in no particular order) can be found below:
1. Grand Haven, MI
2. Rockport, TX
3. Kent Island, MD
4. Astoria, OR
5. Point Pleasant, NJ
6. Dana Point, CA
7. Gloucester, MA

This large pile of coiled, colorful rope caught my eye the other day while walking down the dock.

I’ve been having lots of fun with the Yi Action Lite camera I purchased on Joey’s recommendation. Here you see a bit of hummingbird action in slow motion at our feeder before a rival swoops in to chase off the feeding bird. We see this behavior regularly and are considering adding another feeder. Remember it’s slow motion and they still move pretty fast. Here’s a link for the camera. (Sorry Joey, just too good not to share!)

Waterfront Festival! Rotary Pancake Breakfast! Boating! Beach! Striper Fishing! Breakfast at one of our awesome breakfast joints! Lunch and dinner at one of our awesome restaurants! Gallery browsing! The possibilities are endless! What are you gonna do? #GloucesterMA

People talk about raising the roof all the time. But sometimes you’ve just got to bring up the floor before you start building up. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Well known to the world as Gloucester’s major maritime and sailing event, the 35th annual Gloucester Schooner Festival is organized by the Gloucester Schooner Festival Committee and Maritime Gloucester, held August 30th-September 2nd, 2019.

Taking place in the harbor and nearby waters of America’s oldest seaport, the Gloucester Schooner Festival honors the major role the fishing schooner has played in the heritage of Gloucester and the eastern seaboard.
A spectacular highlight of the Gloucester Schooner Festival is the Parade of Sail on Sunday morning, as the participating schooners make their way through the harbor and out past the breakwater, to the Mayor’s Race starting area off Eastern Point.

Volunteers are still needed for this year’s festival! If you would like to be part of Maritime History with us…
