A few weeks before the Halloween mayhem started, I took a quick walk around Salem. I don’t go there enough and I had forgotten how pretty of a city it is.

There will be a Dining Fundraiser at the Sea Glass Restaurant at the Castle Manor Inn, located at 141 Essex Avenue (Rt 133) in Gloucester on Thursday, October 24, 2019, from 5pm to 9pm. The Castle Manor Inn will donate 10% of all dining proceeds from this event to the Gloucester Rotary Club’s #EndPolioNow fundraising Campaign. Reservations are recommended—978-515-7386. When Rotary and its partners launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative more than three decades ago, polio paralyzed 1,000 children every day. We’ve made great progress against the disease since then. Polio cases have dropped by 99.9 percent, from 350,000 cases…

Magnolia Community Farmers’ Market
This is our chance to show off what we have been working towards all summer: BUILDING A BETTER MARKET! We will be making our pitch, along with 3 other teams seeking a grant. The trustees will vote and decide if our hard work and NEW IDEAS are worthy of a $1000 no-strings-attached grant! Our team has worked so hard this summer to bring Magnolia a fresh and exciting new farmers market, and if you are on this mailing list, it means we couldn’t have done it without YOU! The trustees encourage us to invite our supporters to join us at the Gloucester House to cheer us on! With this grant, the MCFM hopes to be able to improve our website, reach out to more food vendors and farms and work to achieve WIC and SNAP accreditation so that we can BETTER serve our shoppers and the community! If you don’t have plans this Thursday, come on down to the Gloucester House and show your support for the Magnolia Community Farmers Market!

Sunday Fun with Flag Football
I stopped by O’Maley School on Sunday to take in some flag football. Boy, did that bring back memories from our own experiences several years ago! Four games means at least 8 teams along with the accompanying parents, coaches, officials and fans. It’s clear football is very popular around here. Special thanks and shout out to the coaches and officials for taking their valuable weekend time to work with these athletes.
