The Rocky Neck Art Colony is thrilled to announce “Energy of Color,” an immersive and vibrant new exhibition at the historic Cove Gallery, located at 37 Rocky Neck Avenue in the heart of Gloucester’s Rocky Neck Cultural District.
This dazzling show features the work of North Shore artists who draw inspiration from the striking hues and natural beauty of Cape Ann and beyond. Whether rooted in the shimmering coastal light or influenced by far-flung travels, each piece in this exhibition offers a unique interpretation of color’s emotional and expressive power.
“Energy of Color” explores the profound relationship between artists and their environments. The distinct palettes of land, sea, and sky influence both conscious and instinctive artistic choices. The result is a body of work that pulses with life, emotion, and a deep sense of place.
“Color is more than a visual experience—it’s memory, mood, and moment,” says painter and curator Nic Bannerman. “This show invites viewers to feel the world as we do—through the lens of color.”
Visitors will experience a dynamic range of media, including painting, ceramics, and photography, all unified by their passionate engagement with color as a storytelling force.

The Rocky Neck Art Colony also gratefully acknowledges the generous donation of space by Mark Goetemann, honoring the legacy of his late parents, Gordon, and Judith Goetemann—beloved artists and lifelong champions of creative excellence. Their former home and gallery continue to nurture art and community in the spirit of their vision.
Join us at Cove Gallery to celebrate the brilliant interplay of nature, history, and human expression—where the energy of color comes vividly to life.

Gloucester is one of the locations where Energy Efficient Fisheries (EEF) is studying energy efficiency and testing innovations on fishing boats. Chandler Kemp, a marine engineer, talks about the EEF project in this video shot in Gloucester Harbor on Al Cottone’s fishing vessel Sabrina Maria.
A little background on Energy Efficient Fisheries(EEF) and its connection to Gloucester:
EEF is a project hosted by Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Development Programs and led by an advisory committee representing large and small seafood businesses and all the major fisheries and gear types across Massachusetts. “The fishermen asked us for help to reduce their fuel costs and we are excited to be able to offer energy advising services to Massachusetts seafood businesses,” said Angela Sanfilippo, president of Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Development Programs.
Loie Hayes, Shoreside Outreach Consultant for EEF says ,“Shrinking overhead by using less fuel is a win for a business’s bottom line,” If anyone in the fishing industry is interested in learning more, call Loie Hayes at 617-380-4741. The EEF’s energy saving program is available for Massachusetts shore side businesses as well as the fishing fleets.

Hello Joey! Hope your 2025 is off to a great start! I just wanted to share with you some fun news! My friends and I at wonsonrockproductions.com (based in Gloucester) created a short film called ‘A Little Human Spark’ (2024) with a local Gloucester cast and submitted it to some film festivals and it just won an Award of Recognition from the IndieFEST.com film awards out in California (Jan. 2025). It is also an official selection of the NewFilmmakers New York Film Festival (2025) as well as placing as a semi-finalist for selections in Beverly Hills, Paris, Rotterdam, Seoul, San Francisco, Austin and Sacramento. The film is a short (13mins, 10secs) and is loosely based on a true story. *A brief description of the film: “Dream Voice Solutions (DVS), a vocal coach and singer-songwriter content placement company is getting driven out of the business after 25 years by artificial intelligence. The tangled web unravels in grand, karmic fashion”. Here are a few trailers: OFFICIAL TRAILER: https://youtu.be/2xRFblBAd3A?si=HaP0j7cgjN6T_QdV. (Ad/Promo clip for 5/10/25 PREMIERE at Cape Ann Community Cinema, Rockport MA: https://youtu.be/EAfXYDOIE-Y?si=itbOlhcdpABu_yDE. *The film will be screening (3) times on Saturday 5/10/25 on all (3) screens in the building at 6:30pm…7:30pm…8:30pm at capeanncinema.com. We’re hoping you can give this local film a plug for the 5/10 PREMIERE and I bet you’ll know a BUNCH of the cast members in the trailers! I also have two tickets with your name on them! Thanks so much! -Bill Dwyer 617-669-9473
