Under the Surface
While out in Menemsha on Martha’s Vineyard we stopped in the Under the Surface Gallery to enjoy Benjamin McCormick’s photography. I bought three prints for Finn’s bedroom. Each are brilliant with bright green and blue hues. I purchased “Tuna Trip”, “Mackerel Backs”, and “Working the Rip” and they look fabulous on Finn’s wall.

Life on Golden Pond
OK, not Golden Pond, maybe not even a pond, but after we thought we struck out at the eagle sight in Medford at Mystic Lakes State Park we stopped a little way up the road to watch the swans. It turned out to be a great decision as we watched swans, ducks, kingfishers, and others being very active on this nearby waterway. We met a woman who has been watching the swan family all season and apparently one of the young ones has gone missing. We saw what appeared to be a family of 5 happily feeding. It was a rich environment for those who like to bird watch or just watch nature unfold its stories. There actually was an eagle that greeted us here, but that’s a post for tomorrow because it’s worthy of a separate story for sure.

Pretty sky on Monday afternoon
Even though it was cloudy and a little rainy on Monday, at 5:00 the sky was so pretty over Magnolia Harbor.

Paige Walkers Group

is the name of our Team which will be walking to defeat ALS this coming Saturday,
October 3, 2020. Our walk will be about 3 miles in length, beginning and ending at
Trefry Park just past the entrance to Rocky Neck, opposite the parking lot. This is the
culmination of the North Shore ALS annual fundraiser and promises to be a good time.
The plan is for walkers to meet at the park from 10:15 on, when coffee plus will be
served, and for our walk to start at 10:45. This event usually takes place at Endicott
College but will be virtual this year due to Covid-19 restrictions. The opening ceremony
will be presented on Zoom, for those who are interested.
We welcome anyone who would like to join us. Masks are required and we will be social
distancing. If you would like to make a donation to help find a cure for ALS, the Donate
link below will take you to the page where you can do so. All donations on behalf of
Team Paige Walkers will be directed to the Healey Center at Mass General, which is
conducting much very promising research.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes
another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world
with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that
slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life
expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS
can strike anyone.
We hope to see you here.

My Little Joe’s Fresh Fish Prints
I aspire to someday own a large fish print from Joe’s Fresh Fish Prints, but for now I am in love with how great these four placemats from his Bearskin Neck shop look on our counter.

Lawn Project Report: Day 6
Kate and Jimmy did a ton of prep work aerating, raking and laying out new topsoil to the area that was previously home to some enormous overgrown hedges that were out of control.
I finished up the following day with the second section and laid new seed into the topsoil we got at Wolf Hill.
Here’s that timelapse video from six days ago:

Everything I’ve read says patience and watering would be the rule of thumb for the next steps. That we wouldn’t see any results for 7 days or so.
Day 1:

Anxious would be the word to describe the past 6 days, wondering if our first attempt at establishing a new lawn from seed would pay off.
Well it’s day six and we finally have some grass seed germinating!!!

Very exciting watching the grass grow I must say!
