Fall is Delightful at Appleton Farms

I decided to take the short ride to Appleton Farms in Ipswich to get a view of fall from the perspective of a working farm. From the welcoming greeting at the gate to my walk back to the car, it was a delightful experience. It’s only a short ride to this scenic working farm with sweeping vistas and open skies. The day I visited there were additional vendors offering various treats in a socially distanced manner and several families enjoying the weather and the activities. Members park for free, there is $5 weekdays/$10 weekend parking fee for nonmembers. More information to plan your trip is here. This short ride “off-island” is well worth it.

Everything pretty normal (but rewarding) this past week.

Halloween is getting closer
Welcoming party
Trails looking elegant
Cooper’s Hawk after swooping under the feeder
Resident Great Blue Heron preened and napped for 5 hours before the evening hunt
It’s dinner time, deer

Time to move out – follow Mom
Back on July 4th Mom was pushing her brood of 9
A choppy return, early evening
Menacing weather over the Magnolia Shore
But you can usually count on it turning into a classic Gloucester sunset

SNL Sam Adams Pumpkin Ale is a Wicked Winnah for Real Bostonians

Honestly, I haven’t watched Saturday Night Live in years, but I happened to catch this skit with Bill Burr the other night. Pretty funny….and I love my pumpkin beer.

Barns Along the Byway

It’s been a little while since I have found a worthy Barn Along the Byway to share with you, but this seems worth the wait. The glory of autumn in full display!
