Good Morning Gloucester

Dear friends,
Our telephone rings every day with friends and patrons asking when Duckworth’s will reopen. As a small, 36 seat restaurant without space for an outdoor dining option, we were not able to take advantage of the partial openings that bigger restaurants have enjoyed. Over the past 15 months, we have so missed seeing you and all of our friends from Cape Ann and beyond.

Everyone in our extended Duckworth family, “ cast and crew”, is looking forward to seeing you again . . . celebrating with you again . . . and feeding you again! We know there is a great deal of pent up interest in private celebrations that have been deferred for a year or more.

Brenda Leahy, Gloucester Elks Exalted Ruler, invites the public to the annual Flag Day activities tomorrow Monday June 14 at the Elks facility on Atlantic Road. It will begin outside at 6 pm. The middle school Flag Day essay winners will be recognized. We hope to see you there.

I wasn’t planning on it, but I stopped for lunch at the Blue Marlin Grille in Essex and was not disappointed by my choice! Brittani was my server and she did a wonderful job making me feel welcome and answering any questions. And, again, though I wasn’t planning on it, I ordered the Nantucket Reuben. Messy, but well worth the effort! I was alone and felt totally comfortable. The setting is lovely. They have not missed a step over the pandemic. I understand they are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year! Cheers! We’ll be back soon. GMG Jim is going to love it.

The 122-foot schooner Adventure is seeking additional deckhands to join our crew for the current season. Adventure’s varied schedule contains community day sails, charter sails, and educational programming.  Working alongside our volunteers, sail training and seamanship skill building will be a focus of all our operations.  We offer excellent compensation, exceptional training and professional development. Deckhands will have the opportunity to fulfill additional roles such as Cook, Purser, and Safety Officer.  This is a full-time position, applicants must be 18+.
