Fair Sailing Ardelle!

It’s so peaceful watching our schooners sail by. The Ardelle is a beauty! Their webpage seems to be a little outdated but I imagine you can call for updates regarding public sails.

CATA is testing an electric bus this week. And here is the scoop!

What do YOU think about electric buses for Cape Ann? Contact Cape Ann Transportation Authority (CATA) and give them your feedback. Phone: (978) 283-1886Email: WebbF@canntran.com

Did you know that transportation accounts for 29% of greenhouse gas* emissions in Massachusetts? Transitioning to electric vehicles, and powering them with renewable energy, is an excellent way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

*Greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels are causing climate change, the gases trap heat in the atmosphere and warm the planet.

OVER $212,000 RAISED AT THE DRIVE TO REMEMBER RALLY- JUNE 21ST, 2021

AND A MESSAGE FROM WARREN WAUGH

What an evening June 21st was. Not only was it the longest day of the year but it was a night to remember! Just the thought of what can be accomplished by a group of individuals with caring hearts amazes me. Speaking of care, I was a caregiver to my wife Liz for many years. When Liz finally went into the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, I learned quickly that my stubbornness was not just for love, but because I didn’t know any better.  The Alzheimer’s Association not only rescued Liz and convinced me that she was better off in a nursing home…. they also rescued me.  I needed to be cared for too.

I have said many times that I’m not quite sure what the difference is between Alzheimer’s and early onset dementia, but I can describe this disease as a book with many chapters and a very bad ending.

I have tried to assist those who find themselves in my position of “what to do”; I always direct them to my friends at the Alzheimer’s Association of MA/NH, a group of individuals that are so willing to help, guide, and frankly do much of leg work that occurs when the caregiver agrees to let their loved one move to this next chapter.

Together on Monday night we raised $212,000. Your support and donations assisted me to help another “Warren” make a very hard decision, and another “Liz” be placed in a safer environment. You made the right decision to financially move the needle and we did that in a gathering of people who all wanted to be together and give back.  We were all champions in this rally for a cure!

Thank you so much from me, Warren, the guy with a “crazy idea” to host a drive event, and to Cidalia Schwartz, Kruti Kansara and their team of volunteers that jumped to the forefront to carry out this rally for a cause.

Just think we may have moved one step closer to that “first survivor!”

If you were unable to attend but would like to make a donation please click on the below link. Towards the bottom of the page there is an option to select a donation amount that you are comfortable with. Thank you.

Visitors to Gloucester from Illinois

2021-06-21-3746

A very special family visiting Gloucester from Illinois. The gentleman on the far left, I engaged in conversation while he was waiting for his family to come back from walking the breakwater. How fortunate I was to meet this wonderful family and Vince.  I hope they come back and get to go on their Whale Watch they missed because of rough seas.

A Little Bit of Home

Finn and I spied a GMG sticker while at B.O.’s Fish Wagon in Key West. Our trip involves way more fishing and far less bar/restaurant hopping….but we wanted to be sure to find at least one of the “stickas” while on the island.

Paint Manufactory Views

Here are some pictures of the Paint Factory that you usually don’t get to see. These are mostly taken from the waterside on a beautiful night recently celebrating World Ocean Day.
