Shimmering….

A hilarious new novel, written by longtime GMG FOB Doug Brendel, is now available in Gloucester exclusively at Dogtown Books, 132 Main St.
“It’s like a Mexican, a Korean, and a bigot walk into a novel,” Doug says of his outrageous new book, Praying for Mrs. Mombasa. “It’s a rollicking comedy, and an irreverent look at how hope works. Plus, it messes with our tendency to stereotype people. Funny, and a bit edgy in places. We’ll see how it goes over. I may have to sneak out of town, who knows?”
When you buy Praying for Mrs. Mombasaat Dogtown Books, you’ll also receive a free copy of Doug’s previous book, Ipswich in Stitches, comprised of amusing “greatest hits” from his popular humor blog at Outsidah.com.
Dogtown Books plans to soon host a book-signing event, where Doug will perform selections from the book and autograph purchased copies on request. Follow GMG for details to come.
(For those who can’t make a trip to Dogtown Books to purchase Praying for Mrs. Mombasa, the book is available online via Amazon.)

It has been 490 days since The Goddesses hosted The Jam: Mondays at Minglewood Tavern with Dennis and Joe in real life, but tonight we get to do it again after a long virtual wait. Sam and I will be joined by George Hall, and we will join Dennis Monagle and Joe Cardoza tonight at Minglewood Harborside from 8pm-11pm. Come listen! Come play! Come dance! We will be doing LOTS of all three. (Thanks to Joanne Silva for the photo!)

Come join us as we celebrate great American composer, Leonard Bernstein and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Great songs and lyrics that still apply to issues of today. Unusual rythyms and contemporary takes on the original score.
For Restorative Yoga, find some cushions, large books, yoga blocks, blankets, whatever you can use instead of bolsters and blocks. We make it work. For more information on Restorative yoga, check out my site, niawithlinda.com. It is a lovely passive practice that gives the participant relaxation and calm. Who couldn’t use that right now.

If you are new to Nia and Restorative Yoga with Linda, these streaming classes are free. Share with anyone who you feel needs a little movement or peace in their lives during this period of social isolation.
So here is how it works. It will be easier for you if you download the Zoom client for…

Our beautiful beaches were all but deserted as the weather did not cooperate for beach-going over the holiday weekend. One egret took the opportunity for some peaceful foraging at the creek at Good Harbor Beach. I guess he doesn’t care about bacteria levels…….

One of these big toes may or may not belong to one of our newest contributors.

On a windy Friday afternoon on Stacy Boulevard the flags were waving.

Red, white and blue flying proudly all around us. Happy 4th to you all.

Doug and wife Laurie catered an event last night and I got to see the ridiculous grill in operation for just the second time.
Doug Doug has led his Ribs Within BBQ team to Grand Championships in both BBQ and Grilling as well as multiple Reserve Grand Champs, too competing against the best in the WORLD!
Follow them on Facebook here- Meat and Sweet Foods
Also order his awesome rubs from his Ribs Within site (I use it all the time for the best BBQ I produce).
