Rocky Neck Polar Plunge Open Door Update!

My View of Life on the Dock

An adult Herring Gull at the Jodrey State Fish Pier late in the afternoon. Unfortunately there was no light at that time because it had become dull.
The Herring Gull’s webbed foot on the left side has been lifeless, but this bird is alive and kicking.

I can’t lie…. it took me a few seconds longer than I am proud of to figure this out. It is now obvious that those balloons spell out “2022” but I saw S.O.S first.

Some inspiration to start your week from Mark Twain, Scottie Mac and Joey C. Probably not the combo you were expecting, but from Mark Twain: “Dance like nobody’s watching; love like you’ve never been hurt. Sing like nobody’s listening; live like it’s heaven on earth.” Thank you Joey and Scottie for the reminder.

I didn’t remember the liquor store but I do remember the Hallmark store in between CVS and Papa Gino’s. Great times riding our bikes to Papa Gino’s for pizza and pizza pumping quarters in the individual juke boxes at the tables. Back when parents let their kids ride bikes all over town. When they were young. To football, baseball practice. Everywhere.
Some encounters with Nature during the final days of 2021, on a Cape Ann “World’s End.”

HAPPY NEW YEAR

It’s amazing the impact this $14.99 lightstrip has and the many uses you can use them for. Behind a TV gives great contrast for viewing. There are many different colors and levels of brightness you can select either on the switch that is on the cord or through the remote app on your phone. We will demonstrate it on the GloucesterCast today.

Going up against these savages-
New Saturday Classes
With the proliferation of Omicron I decided to add a Nia and Restorative Yoga class on Saturday mornings for Jan and Feb. Nia at 10 AM (come early at 9:30 for chatting. Bring your hot drink and enjoy some socialization.) Restorative Yoga at 11:15 AM. The links are on the zoom class page of the website. We had a large number of people attend the classes on New Year’s Day so I thought I’d continue it till covid quiets down. We are so done with you covid!!!!
Current Nia Routine: Pink Martini
Join us as we dance to the music of the incredible band, Pink Martini. I got the bug to do this routine, last done in Nov.2020, after watching the Pink Martini Holiday concert last week. Different genres, different languages, very eclectic music.
Moving to Heal
Moving to Heal Nia is a slower, less intensive class…

Our very own GMG Jim (then 17) posed next to Betty White (then 50) on Jan 1 1973 to recognize his participation as only 1 of 2 New Yorkers in the McDonald’s All American Band as they performed for the Rose Bowl parade. When the shocking news of her death reached us (I always smile a little to think that a death at an advanced age like 99 can be a shock……but, twas so this time) we we scrambled to find this memory. Presumably the other woman is Rose Bowl Queen Salli Noren. The Rose Bowl game pitted Ohio St vs USC. and the undefeated USC Trojans prevailed.
I think both Betty and Jim aged well! Betty White was as American as the McDonald’s All American Band and she touched many lives. We will remember her fondly though I am kind of glad to see the back-side of 2021.
