Did You Know? (Soul Rebel Project)
That I love Reggae? I have to say that for a bunch of white boys, Soul Rebel Project is good. Their covers and originals come with the right lick and moves (the Reggae King, Peter Tosh and Sizzla influences are definitely apparent and they would take no offense). Their lyrics are positive, with an irie Rasta vibe that you can’t help but move to. If you overstand and appreciate Rasta culture and Reggae music, you will love Soul Rebel Project. Wharf Girl, Alma McLaughlin danced up a storm and had a great time. My dance card for Thursday night is filled for the summer with Soul Rebel Project at Madfish Grill.

Thursday Nights Rock Found!
Thursday Nights Rock Found!
I left an “Art, Rock!” at the Fishermens Wives Statue Last Night. I thought it would be a fitting place for it on this Memorial Day weekend. Sometimes I feel like I’m Defacing these poor Ocean Rocks with my Sketches. This little one was Orange with some blue specks. Nice Complementary Colors. But anyways heres the email and Photos from the Person who found the Rock.
I think he found at least one other one with his Son Jack.
Josh’s Email;
“Talk about small. It took me a while but was thrilled to find it. Great work! I am a huge fan of art rocks. The last one I had my mother in law with me and we saw the person find it. We weren’t quick enough!
My wife and I were actually walking on the boulevard around the time
you left it. I didn’t see the post until I got home and couldn’t
resist. It took me a good 10 minutes to find it. I found it on my
last pass after actually walking to the white anchor and flower bed!
Not too many people were around at the time as it was starting to get
dark.
BTW: I found the quarter while looking for the rock! lol That’s how
hard I was looking!”

Did You Know? (Watercolor Workshop with Jane Goldman)
Watercolorist and teacher, Jane Goldman, is offering a 2-day workshop in lovely Annisquam? You can see some of her work at http://www.somervilleopenstudios.org/artists/artist_profile.php?artistID=119 and see her teaching resume here http://www.janegoldmanartist.com/teaching_resume.pdf.
Did You Know? (Diana’s Gallery on Madfish Wharf)

That Diana Pasquariello has operated Diana’s Gallery at 75 Rocky Neck, G12 for ten years? Diana’s gallery showcases her original watercolor paintings inspired by florals, landscapes and abstract concepts. Fine art prints can also be found in this sun-filled gallery (when the sun is actually out). Primarily self-taught, Diana has taken workshops and classes with several wonderful artists over the years. As a child she loved drawing and painting and has developed a unique, impressionistic style which is both delicate and strong in color. Her style is spontaneous and intuitive, and she creates from memory or instinct. Her gallery is really lovely and welcoming, and although Diana is a bit camera shy, I was able to capture her, so you’ll recognize her when you visit. Her husband, Tony is often there helping her as well, and he is the one responsible for stringing the white Christmas lights along Madfish Wharf to make the place more festive and inviting at night. Her gallery is open from May 15 to October 15, and normal gallery hours are noon to 6:00 pm and weekends until 9:00 pm.

Did You Know? (Discover Gloucester)
That the Discover Gloucester season’s tourism kick-off event was held on on Tuesday, May 24, 6:00PM at the Stage Fort Park Visitor Welcoming Center? There was a great turnout, and the new Discover Gloucester Visitor Guide was launched. Here are some photos from the event, starting with a number of the volunteers who make the Visitor Welcoming Center so welcoming and informative for our visitors. Also see the cover of the new Visitor’s Guide (which we have a supply of at Khan Studio and the Good Morning Gloucester Gallery), as well as shots of some of the attendees. Everyone got a couple of minutes to talk about their business and/or volunteer efforts and to exchange information. GMG stickers were, needless to say, a big hit.

Did You Know? Sushi
That there is now an awesome sushi bar at Madfish Grill at Rocky Neck? Here you see parking angel, Phil and his wife, Lynn getting ready to enjoy hot rock (sashimi-style meat cooked at the table on a 1,000-degree volcanic rock). Next you see Chef, Jordan Rubin at the Sushi Bar. Just look at how fresh and beautiful everything looks! When not at Madfish Grill, I am told Jordan can be found at wildly popular Uni Sashimi Bar in Back Bay, Boston. I’m not a big sushi fan myself, preferring my meat cooked, but I could definitely go for some of that hot rock sashimi, and plan to next time the Sushi Bar is open (Thursday and Friday for dinner and Saturday and Sunday for lunch and dinner, and Memorial Day – check out menu here). And can you identify the GMG contributor in the background behind Lynn?

Did You Know? (Sista Felicia)
I think you all know that Sista Felicia is an amazing cook. Did you know that she bakes the most amazing macaroon cookies? She baked these cookies and left them with Joey at the dock for me to have at the gallery (I was in Boston and the gallery was closed). It was very trusting of her, as they apparently are Joey’s favorites. He was very disciplined and didn’t break into them until I arrived. I’ve had two of them myself. Please come by and visit the gallery (77 Rocky Neck, G3 – noon to 8:00pm) and have one or two, and save me; if you don’t come and eat them, I will have to.
Sista Felicia, thank you so very much; that was so sweet of you, as was the card with them. EJ
