Like if you had to grade his murdering skills it would have to be in the negative thousandth percentile.

A-Train father/son duo of Rick and Alec Razdan join The Thursday night blues party @ The Rhumb Line 8:30-11:30

The joint will be jumpin for sure!
Dave says,
We’ll be rarin’ to go this Thursday as I have gotten a clean bill of health from my veterinarian, and am able to physically keep up with the likes of The “A” Train Orchestra. Featuring the dynamic father/son duo of Rick and Alec Razdan, these two saxophonists are nitroglycerin for your soul. A musical weight reduction machine, these guys are. A lotta hooting’ and a-hollerin’ goin’ on!
Joining the maelstrom will be that loving jazz snob, Mr. John F Hyde, on the keys. He knows all the chords. David “Doc” Vincent will be pounding the skins. I’ll have a pounding headache! But don’t mind me, come see for yourself!

Vincent Ferrini Centenary post game show

Henry Ferrini writes-

Joey,
The Gloucester Writers Center Gala was a huge success.  The evening festivities began with “Bites on the Dock” at Maritime Gloucester. Over 250 people gathered as the sun set and the moon rose over the harbor to dine on oysters, chowder, and a wonderful array of gourmet bites, all donated by North Shore restaurants and caterers. In the words of Vincent Ferrini “conviviality was taken to another sphere”! The Poet’s Cabaret,  MCed  old friend  Michael McNamara and  M. Lynda Robinson, the hour Cabaret showcased the new Ferrini book “Incredible Dancer” and the talents of some of Cape Ann’s most loved players who sang, danced, and recited the newly published verse of Ferrini.

It was an unforgettable and poignant evening with the three year old Gloucester Writers Center raising over $23,000.

Wednesday with Fly Amero @ The Rhumb Line ~ Special guest: Inge Berge

Surf & Turf Specials!
Wednesdays Only!

Hello everyone!
Wednesday, June 26th
Special Guest:
INGE BERGE!

Inge Berge
is more than a good songwriter.  He’s a poet –
in the true sense of the word, for he writes with honesty and
courage… and with little consideration for consequence.  I’ll
always admire him greatly for it, knowing only too well how
easy it is for us all to follow the path of least resistance as
artists.  What he does takes guts, and I hope I’m not the
only one who notices.  Meanwhile, Buona Fiesta! ~ Fly 🙂
Dinner with Fly Amero: 8 – 11pm
*Each week features a special, invited musical guest
Dave Trooper’s Kitchen…
Surf & Turf Dinner –
  $11.95 (while they last)
Tenderloin Tips with Grilled Garlic Shrimp!
Prepared fresh weekly by “Troop”… always good!
Upcoming…
July 3: Horribles Parade (best seen at the Rhumb Line)

July 10: Jon Butcher (w/Chris Pierce)

July 17: Allen Estes

Looking forward…
…to seeing you there!  🙂 ~ Fly

Broadway really has come to Gloucester — Spring Awakening is a Must See for Every Parent!

Even if the music wasn’t moving; even if the performances, directing & choreography weren’t Broadway quality; even if the play hadn’t won 8 Tony Awards, you should still see Spring Awakening at Gloucester Stage before the run is up July 14 — and the good news is that you will enjoy it immensely!

For some reason, it seems that by the time your kids are ten, you’ve forgotten what it’s like to be a teen. Spring Awakening reminds you in a visceral way — and seeing it will help you help your kids through adolescence.  Believe me, every parent needs help with that!  Check out some photos, by Gary Ng, of the production :

Bravo to Eric Engel and the Gloucester Stage Board for taking the risk to open their 2013 season with Spring Awakening. Good reviews are starting to pop up (here’s one), so you’d better get your tickets today if you want to be sure to get in. Click here – don’t delay!

Cultural Center at Rocky Neck – CLOSING THE GAP!

Karen Ristuben writes-

On behalf of the Rocky Neck Art Colony, I am thrilled to announce that we have received word from the Massachusetts Cultural Council that the Art Colony will receive a significant grant of $154,006 to apply toward the purchase of the Cultural Center building. This state grant comes on the heels of the City of Gloucester’s award of $74,000 in Cultural Development Block Grant funding to make the building handicapped accessible. We are immensely grateful for such generous state and city support! Together these gifts reflect substantial progress toward building equity in a thriving and sustainable cultural center.
Combining these two grants with private donations, the Art Colony has now raised $390,000 toward a campaign goal of $700,000.  To reach this goal, we need to raise an additional $310,000. Our remaining needs are to:
• Retire our mortgage of $100,000.
• Raise an additional $126,000 for renovations and handicapped access
• Add $86,000 in operational and capital reserves
We have also applied for $50,000 in Community Preservation Act funding toward renovations and handicapped access. The Art Colony is now strongly positioned to launch the next phase of our capital campaign – Closing the Gap!
We are absolutely delighted that the community has used the Center so robustly for a host of artistic, cultural and community events, and we anticipate even more exciting uses of the building in the future. Immense thanks are due to our generous donors and to the many people who have worked tirelessly to create the Center.  With your continued help and support, we believe that the Center will flourish as a respected New England cultural institution and contribute to the revitalization of Gloucester and Rocky Neck. Your participation counts.
Sincerely yours,
Karen Ristuben, President

We’ve come a long way from the initial idea Karen spoke about in this video on September 11, 2011
