When the leaves begin to turn, GMG Jim gets a hankering for Blue Marlin’s Italian Fish Stew and his birthday is a great reason to go! Blue Marlin on Eastern Ave in Essex is a favorite of ours and many others for many many reasons including the Italian Fish Stew. I had the onion soup and baked haddock. It was a large piece of haddock baked to perfection with just the right amount of topping. Jim had ravioli with meat sauce, also a fall favorite. The place was hopping even in the middle of the week but the servers were patient and friendly. We noticed families, couples, seniors such as ourselves and celebrations so Blue Marlin offers something for almost anyone!

Sharing information from the City regarding the pick up of old mattresses and box springs effective Nov 3 2023:

We attended the Cape Ann Plein Air Gala last night at the YMCA and it was like taking a walk through the entirety of Cape Ann within the confines of a gym. The artists each displayed a number of their works from this week so we saw Cape Ann through a variety of lens and viewpoints. It was amazing! The artists were open to chatting, the volunteers helpful, and the caterers amazing. Today Sunday Oct 15 2023 is Small Painting Sunday and you might want to get yourself up there to see for yourself. More info on remaining events can be found on their website Cape Plein Air. Thank you Susan Gould Coviello and volunteers and other members! An amazing event all around!

What is this project?

The Newburyport Arts and Culture Shanties Program is a collaboration between Newburyport Arts Organizations, the City of Newburyport, and BLB Custom Builders. The project is funded through the Creative County Initiative, a partnership between the Essex County Community Foundation and the Barr Foundation.
The project seeks to provide a vibrant and historically-based centralized forum for local artists and artisans to collectively join together with the common mission of bringing locally made art to the North Shore region and beyond. By creating an organized artist colony, along with the provision of space to showcase, display, and sell, art, in various shapes and forms, this project aims to foster the growth of an artistically and culturally rich environment that would attract locals and tourists alike, as well as increase profits for artists and local businesses.
The goals of the Newburyport Arts & Culture Shanties are to help local artists/artisans and cultural organizations increase recognition and sales; act as a community-building forum through a common artistic mission; and increase traffic to local businesses
