EMPTY BOWL FUNDRAISER celebrates 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OPEN DOOR

Last night our Community came together to pick out some beautiful hand-made bowls and share a simple meal of soup and bread with our neighbors as a reminder that, every night across this country, people stand in line for just that, a bowl of soup, bread and something to drink.  At the end of the night, the bowl goes home as a reminder that, somewhere, someone’s bowl is truly empty.   I’m happy to report there wasn’t an Empty Bowl in the house and lots of funds and awareness were raised for this great cause!  Part of last night’s fundraiser was to celebrate The Open Door‘s 40th Anniversary of serving the Cape Ann Community!

Whimsical signs of spring!

It’s the little things that brighten your day and bring a smile to your face!   Like this whimsical springtime creation by Jen Anderson (I’m assuming) on East Main Street at JenandRon.com (RE/MAX Advantage).   Thanks Jen for your creative mind and efforts!!  img_8910

Boulevard is Bloomin’

The result of all these rainy April days are apparent on the Boulevard this week!  The blooms are starting to sprout!   Mostly the Red and Yellow/Orange tulips are popping open closer to the bridge so I’m guessing in a week or two we will have some great views!!

Off the Island

Sending some warm, breezy sunshine your way this morning from Riviera Maya, Mexico!  Went down to the beach for sunrise and it was a gorgeous, breezy 79 degrees…just us, the waves and the birds chirping.   A girl could get used to this 😀  (note to self…Camera + Air conditioning + Humidity = foggy lens..but I kind of like the soft, diffusion)  Happy Monday all!

Magical mornings

This photo popped up in my “on this day” from a couple years ago and I remember the morning as vividly as the skies were that day!   It was a cloud chasing kind of morning with just me and a coyote peacefully co-existing on Wingaersheek watching the magic unfold.    So as we trudge through the work week, lets soak up some leftover magic from these kind of mornings!

Kindness is still Rockin on!

A couple years ago I wrote about the Kindness Rocks project and I love that this is still alive and going strong in our community!  I found this little fella at the Post Office.   I did not take it because it had made me smile, so it’s job was done and I thought maybe someone else could use it.   This also made me think about what an awesome EASTER activity this would be for the young ones after the easter egg hunt was done.   It seems we have a whole lot of rocks to get rid of from the storms so why not grab a few and sit the young ones down for a little project then go for a ride and “plant” their kindness somewhere in the city!   There is a facebook page “Glosta Rocks” you can check out and share your Kindness Rocks photos.    Keep Rockin on!!img_8296img_8297

Mass at the Mohans Altar of St. Joseph

We were honored to have Father Michele Benetti from Bishop Fenwick present Mass to us during our Novena yesterday at Sista Felicia’s home.  It was a beautiful morning and Father B, being from Northern Italy had a special request to sing his favorite song Dell Aurora  which happens to be one of our favorites as well!

St. Joseph’s Novena blessing

Father Joseph came last night to bless the food and altar in preparation for the Feast of St. Joseph.  He was truly in awe of how committed our entire community is to tradition and family and I know it was as much a moment for him as it was for us.  Thank you Father Joseph!DSCF3614-EditDSCF3603-EditDSCF3589-EditDSCF3591-Edit

Day 3 – St. Joseph’s Novena

A few short clips of the beautiful songs that are sung each night of Novena.   Last night with the blizzard we had to be a little resourceful and thanks to a little facebook technology (and our youngins helping us) we were able to go “Live” in a private group and be together for Day 4!!   Where there’s a will there’s a way!   Enjoy the beautiful sunny day after!!
