This is one of my favorite “unique” photos of Eastern Point Light. It’s not unique because of the pretty skies behind it or the nice light on the house from the setting sun, it’s because this was taken when they were filming a movie there. The cyclone fence is removed and its staged with boats and old fence posts. Love how natural the scene looks. It was a short lived view!

Skiff at Lane’s Cove
I’m ready to float into the weekend…anyone else? Have a fab Friday!

Caged beauty

All these beautiful tulips surrounding the Fisherman’s Wives statue….still appreciating the beauty with all the construction around them. 😀
Sunny Sunday at GHB
The temps were a bit chilly yesterday but it was still a great day at the beach! Lot of peeps and pups enjoying the awesome day :D.

Fluorescent Sunset

Ran down and caught the tail end of a fluorescent sunset last night at Plum Cove. I’m not sure when taps started again but it was a sure sign of summer when the horn started to play! Have a great Sunday!
Netherlands to paint brushes….
A year ago this was my morning view! The tranquil early morning view of the Canals of Amsterdam. Today’s view will consist of paint brushes, paint buckets and ladders. Oh what a difference a year makes lol!

The Village of Zaanse Schans, Netherlands

Happy Earth Day!
My earth day view on the way to work this morning. Just a quick iPhone shot at the Mill River but still enough to appreciate the peacefulness of the morning! Happy Earth Day!

Went golfing…kinda
My hubs Neil asked if I wanted to get out for some fresh air and “stroll” with him last night while he hit a few balls around at Rockport Golf Club. I said sure and grabbed MY golf equipment…(my camera!). It was a nice brisk night on the course and luckily Neil was patient while I selected my shots! So here’s my kind of golfing 😀

Love to see the Heron’s back for the season!

Low tide at Annisquam

One of my favorite sunset spots is the Annisquam Lighthouse. This image today reminds me that during a full moon the tides are lower and you can get better angles of the Lighthouse depending on the timing. This Thursday is a full moon and the tide will be lowest at 5:45 pm and might make for some nice lighting on the Lighthouse as the sun will be setting at 7:35pm. See all these crazy things your camera makes you look up just to take a photo? So hopefully I’ll venture down and check it out if the weather stays nice!
Love that dirty water

In honor of Marathon Monday, a night shot of Boston from Fan Pier. Good luck to all the runners today!!
View from Jones Creek

One of my favorite ever changing views is from the Stone Pier looking up toward the A. Piatt Andrew Bridge. It’s beautiful early in the morning just after the sun rises when the egrets and blue herons are having breakfast. The Pier has just as pretty a view on a summer night with the glowing sun illuminating the three red dories that are usually moored to the left of the stone pier. Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!!
Night Shots

Last year I started venturing into night shooting with my camera, starting to shoot long exposures with stars and the milky way, but one of the funnest ways is to find a completely dark area and play around with light sources. Last fall I took a workshop at New England School of Photography and we went out to Fort Revere Park in Hull, MA (which was pitch black at 10pm at night!) and had a blast playing in the dark! This was shot using a clear tube with flashlights at each end. As I opened the shutter Cousin Wendy walked back and forth with the light source, close the shutter and voila! So fun to see what the camera can see when we can’t.
First Boardwalk

We are one day closer to walking these boardwalks again for a nice long day at the beach!! Happy Hump Day!
Fenway reflections
It’s opening day at Fenway…enjoy the view!

My new favorite App!

I like to send good old fashioned cards still, even in this digital age….but I’m not always that great at it if I have to make a trip to Walgreens, then I don’t always have postage on hand…whatever the excuse. But not too long ago I received a special postcard in the mail after a fun girls weekend with a picture of all of us and I just loved it! My friend Maureen sent it using the “Ink” app for iPhone, iPad or android. I know you are thinking it’s kind of impersonal to use an app to send a sentiment but I would totally disagree….it’s ever MORE personal because you’ve put a fun photo or memory on there and you can type in exactly what you want to say on the back. They come in postcard for or folded and you can add an envelope to your order. They print it, put postage on it and send it for you all from the comfort of your own home for about the same price of a hallmark card. While I would probably never send a sympathy card this way….you can do invites, thank you cards, birthday, anniversary, graduation, baby….tons of options! Now you will be looking for people to send cards too!! Have fun!
Heaven over Essex Marsh

This is a spot I’ve visited a number of times, just waiting for the perfect view to photograph. One morning I really didn’t want to get out of bed at 4am but I knew a storm had come through the night before and the cloud cover might be interesting so I dragged my butt over to Essex and wasn’t disappointed! Of course I got there and the sun hadn’t started to rise yet…it was just cloudy and grey, but it’s amazing how in a span of 15 minutes a scene like this can unfold before your eyes. This is one of my favorite photos of last year and a 16 x 20 canvas print is one of the prints available at the Art at the Schoolhouse this weekend so stop by! Thanks to James and Anna at Cape Ann Giclee for their expert printing of this canvas!
Art at the Schoolhouse!

GMG Contributor Donna Ardizonni and I were busy preparing for “Art at the School House” Show this weekend! 100% of the proceeds go to the restoration of the old Schoolhouse, so if you have a few minutes this weekend please stop down and see some awesome work by some amazingly talented locals (including some of our own GMG contribs!) (Special shout-out to James and Anna at Cape Ann Giclee for the printing of our canvases & prints!)

Waiting…

Waiting….always waiting for something. Right now we are all patiently waiting for the arrival of warm days where we can sit on the sandy beach…when the life guard IS on duty. Until then we can be grateful for this view from Plum Cove Beach this morning….still blue skies but with a little touch of white stuff (and a whole lot chillier!). Happy Grati-Tuesday!
Marvelous Monday!

I was up north this weekend where they had very little snow, and we missed the beautiful big snowflakes yesterday morning. Loved seeing all the big snowflake photos from everyone on FB. Today I’m sharing a photo I took of last week’s snow fall from the Gazebo at Stage Fort Park looking out towards the harbor….let’s hope it’s all behind us after today! Hope everyone has a marvelous Monday!
Wind & waves
Warm winds were blowing hard during high tide yesterday. Stopped down the Boulevard after work and got my exercise running out of the way of the waves coming over the railings. (try to keep the camera dry at all costs!) One of the great things about this island is the ever changing scenes!
