Gloucester400™’s Organizational Partner Program Launches with Far-reaching Support Throughout Cape Ann
22 Local Organizations Sign on and “Show the Love” for Gloucester’s 400th Anniversary Celebration – with More to Come
Gloucester, MA – February 12, 2021 – Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Gloucester400™ has unveiled a new program designed to strengthen connections with the community, heighten awareness of the city’s 400th anniversary, and encourage involvement among a broad range of organizations including non-profits, corporations, and local businesses. The program is the Gloucester400 Organizational Partners Program.
In its first wave of alliances, Gloucester400 has already attracted 22 organizations that are willing to collaborate and pledge support to working together on behalf of Gloucester’s 400th-anniversary celebration.
“Working with the entire community to produce a successful quadricentennial is essential,” said Laura Ventimiglia, the Gloucester400 executive director. “Looking ahead to 2023, our initial organizational partners share our collaborative nature, appreciation of Gloucester’s history, and excitement about the city’s future. We look forward to working closely with them and other interested organizations to carry out a celebration that is worthy of our 400-year history.”

The first wave of Organizational Partners includes 22 of Cape Ann’s most well-known and well-respected organizations. Each is unique in its mission, members, and clients, reflecting the rich diversity that has strengthened Gloucester and its Sandy Bay heritage for almost 400 years. Current partners are:

“We’ve been very pleased by the rapid and wide-ranging response to the Organizational Partner Program. A key aspect of the program is that it allows and encourages each participating organization to retain its unique identity, be its unique self, and participate in a way that is consistent with its respective mission. In our conversations with various Partner representatives the excitement about participating in Gloucester 400 is evident and the early wave of Partnerships indicates that our collaborative approach is successful,” Ventimiglia commented. “It is also worth noting that among our initial partners and in keeping with their slogan ‘We’re Here for You,’ the Sawyer Free Library was the very first organization to partner with us.
What Does the Organizational Partners Program Entail?
The Gloucester400 Organizational Partner Program establishes an agreement between Gloucester400 and the participating partner to jointly promote the work that each does for the City of Gloucester, thereby bringing attention to their fine contributions. Further, promoting each other’s activities and events that commemorate the City’s quadricentennial mutually raises awareness and drives engagement towards initiatives that serve to celebrate Gloucester’s 400-year history. This happens in the form of marketing and outreach by each organization to their respective memberships, communities, and constituents on behalf of Gloucester’s 400th anniversary celebration.
Partners may also host or sponsor a commemorative event or project, although they are not required to do so, thus leaving the level and nature of involvement intentionally flexible to accommodate the partners’ respective missions, priorities, and resources.
