The Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 6pm in the Community Church of East Gloucester, Chapel Street.

If you are a lot owner or have family members interred at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery you are welcome to attend our Annual Meeting.

We currently have openings on our Board of Trustees and are actively seeking qualified volunteers who have time and energy to commit to keeping our cemetery going.

Alliance Detective & Security Service, Inc. is seeking highly motivated and experienced Armed Security Officers to join our team. We are a rapidly expanding family-owned and operated private security company seeking qualified Officers to work as armed security officers in the Greater Boston area.

Alliance has a manned 24/7 dispatch center with a Supervisor on duty at all times of the day. These positions offer excellent starting hourly rates for qualified candidates. These shifts are daytime 8:00am – 4:30pm, we have full-time Monday – Friday or two – three days per week available.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Current/Valid MA License To Carry Firearms (LTC)
* Documented proof of firearms training (Military/Law Enforcement course)
* Ability to pass a range qualification
*Law enforcement or military experience
• Reliable transportation to and from work

As a part of the Middle Street Walk festivities, this Saturday, December 11th, professional Conservator, Lisa Mehlin, will be leading 15-minute tours of the Saunders House’s historic WPA Murals that are currently being restored at the Sawyer Free Library.  She will speak to both their history and the conservation process.

Registration for a time slot is required at sawyerfreelibrary.org

The grand murals located in the Saunders House, completed in 1934 by Fredrick L. Stoddard and Howard Curtis as a part of the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration, are currently being restored by the Sawyer Free Library. Titled “Scenes of the Region,” the murals depict maritime culture against a backdrop of the agrarian life that supported the early settlement of Gloucester, capturing the activity of the busy working harbor with views of the distant rocky shoreline, the city, Rocky Neck, Ten Pound Island and also a simplified representation of Dogtown Common…
