Fun Magical Business in Rockport!

My name is Rebeccah and I own a business in Rockport MA called Apothecary Suil Crow. My business started in 2020 during the pandemic with local craft fairs and psychic events.

As the demand for my handmade items grew I realized opening a brick and mortar was needed. In September of 2022 I found a location in Rockport at 9 Whistlestop Mall that was perfect.

My hopes was to open a location to provide people with wholesome products, Olde World Enchantment pieces and products with all natural ingredients which includes handmade jams and marmalades … with a twist of magic.

Since my opening I have found other people in Massachusetts and all over the United States that I carry spreading the love of handmade items in the US and supporting other crafters to the community of Rockport and Cape Ann.

This spring I will be planting an herb garden outside of my shop as well, which will help provide FREE herbs and edible flowers to those in need, food insecure individuals and those that are inspired by eating fresh from the soil items. These items will be available all summer long and the only rule is “if you pick it you water it”.

If you ever find yourself in the Rockport area please stop by!

Complimentary Wine Tasting at Savour this Saturday, 2 – 4 pm, the Wines of Alsace, France

THIS SATURDAY, April 8, 2 – 4 pm

COMPLIMENTARY

FINE WINE TASTING @ SAVOUR WITH BETH VON BENZ – ALSATIAN WINE EDUCATOR

We have a special and unusual treat on this Easter and Passover weekend. Beth von Benz, who is an educator specializing in Alsatian wines is joining us for a tasting of 3 remarkable, aromatic, full-bodied beautiful white wines: A single vineyard dry Riesling, a velvety Pinot Blanc, just right for the holiday table, and the best Gewurztraminer I have tasted, perfect with ham, turkey, or an after-dinner cheese plate. So come down and taste with us and enjoy the presentation of the wine of the great French region of Alsace!

 WINES

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Roche Granitique 2018, Alsace

Varietal: RieslingAlc.12.5%

Since 1620, the Humbrecht family has cultivated their vines in Alsace. Today Domaine Zind Humbrecht comprises 42 hectares of vines, spread over an array of different terroirs in the geological patchwork that is the Alsatian wine region. The domaine follows biodynamic practices in making their wines. The Riesling Roche Granitique was produced from the youngest vines on the domaine (36 years old). It is bright yellow in color. The nose is open and engaging, and as the wine breathes, it develops aromas of fruit and aromatic herbs. The palate shows weight and length, with a dry harmonious finish. Some acidity and tannins are present, but they are balanced by the fullness of the wine.

Pairs well with ham, turkey, soft cheeses, spicy foods, especially Asian. $ 49.99

Domaine Barmes-Buecher Rosenberg Pinot Blanc, Alsace

Varietal: Pinot BlancAlc.13.5%

Situated in the village of Wettolsheim, at the foot of the hills beneath the Vosges mountains, Domaine Barmes-Buecher’s 17 hectares of vines lie south of Colmar and Turckheim and produce an average of 100,000 bottles and around twenty different cuvées every year. The Domaine grows a number of Alsatian grape varieties and its production is split over seven different terroirs, three of which are classified as Grand Cru.

The Pinot Blanc is a golden color, and the nose has aromas of minerals and flint along with some peach. Pineapple and orange, lemon, pepper, and clove are present on the palate. The fruit is luscious and weighty, but the wine also has good acidity and a clean mouthfeel. Delicious on its own and well up to a curry.

Pairs well with grilled salmon, tuna tartare, shellfish, mild & soft cheese, cured meats, spicy cuisine. $ 32.99

Kientzler Gewürztraminer, Alsace, Varietals: Gewürztraminer Alc.13.5%

The Kientzler family has been growing vines for more than five generations in Ribeauvillé and the surrounding area. As early as 1866, Dominique Alphonse Kientzler had inherited vines from his father and grandfather and in 1895 was involved in the creation of France’s first winemaking cooperative in Ribeauvillé. His son Alphonse, while also tending to the vines, eventually became the Mayor of Ribeauvillé. It was Alphonse’s son François though, who was the first to fully concentrate on wine production, taking himself off to Switzerland to study viticulture. By the 1970s, he was joined by his son, André, in the wine business and the pair undertook a massive replanting program to replace much of the old Chasselas with the noble Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewürztraminer varieties. Today, the Kientzlers farm almost 14 hectares of vines in Ribeauvillé, Bergheim, Hunawihr, and Riquewihr, including significant parcels in the Grand Crus of Geisberg, Osterberg, and Kirchberg. They are working toward making the winery completely organic. This Gewürztraminer is fresh and delicately perfumed with restraint and lovely fine acidity buffering its richness. Intense and exotic aromas of lychee, tropical fruit, and pepper on the nose are followed by a delicate fruity sweetness in the mouth. The spicy profile and fine acidity make for a long, elegant finish.

Pairs well with coconut curry, mango salad, asparagus, or lamb with dried-fruit cous-cous, as well as Thai food and sheep’s milk cheeses. $24.99

And don’t forget to check out what’s new in our beer case, including two juicy NE IPAs and a clean, refreshing rice lager from East Regiment Brewing in Salem.
